The tint of the Black Cherry Balm can vary in color due to the Alkanet root we infuse our almond oil with. Although we craft each batch with precision and aim to make every balm the "same", please know that our plant infusion strengths will vary based on seasonal growing fluctuations & is somewhat expected when using 100% natural ingredients.
What is alkanet root?
Alkanna tinctoria is a tiny blue flowered plant whose roots provide a natural red pigment.

Our SPF 15 factor is verified biennially by a 3rd party lab.
SPF 15 means that your skin is protected 15x's longer than without the SPF15 product.
NOTE: Just a few swipes of Sun Lip Balm are needed for protection, many swipes will give your lips a white tint, which is fine too.

One of the reasons Hurraw! balm is not >95% organic is simply because Hurraw! use vegan candelilla wax. This wax is wild grown and processed in Mexico but it is not, and never will be, certified organic which is why Hurraw! can’t include it in the organic %.
Wax is also not considered a food and therefore certifying under current “organic” agricultural standards is problematic.
Hurraw recommend using your tube of Hurraw! Balm within a year of opening (FYI, laboratory stability tests place expiration at 3 years 'on the shelf’ but that is not optimal) and storing it between 40-72° F (4-22° C).
Hurraw! balms are made from fresh food grade ingredients. They do not contain any artificial preservatives.
Hurraw Balm is certified organic by the Montana Department of Agriculture

Batch Codes:
An alpha-numeric code is printed on the bottom of each tube, the side of each jar or the fin of the tubes; tracking our ingredients is an important part of the process!
The first initials represent the flavor/SKU. The first and second digit denote the recommended use-by date (The first of which is the month; 1-9, Oct, Nov, Dec. The second of which is the year in which it is dated for expiry). The third digit is an internal tracker that indicates the specific batch number of the month.
Product with the batch code BC391 = Black Cherry Lip Balm, with a recommended shelf-life of March of 2019
