- What is the difference between turmeric, curcuminoids, curcumin and tetrahydrocurcumin (THC)?

Turmeric is a bright yellow spice powder that derives from the root of a plant known as Curcuma longa. Curcuminoids are a family of active compounds within turmeric, this includes curcumin (major constituent), demethoxycurcumin (DMC) and bisdemethoxycurcumin (BDMC). Tetrahydrocurcumin (THC) is a product converted from curcumin. In the human body, curcumin in the intestines is converted into THC and it is responsible for various psychological activities in the body. THC was found to be more potent than curcumin in different aspects, including antioxidative activity.
