“O-M-G, your lashes!” These are the three words every girl wants to hear every time they get their lashes done. But who are we to kid ourselves when they’re actually lash extensions or falsies – we want those compliments for our realsies! And it’s not entirely impossible. I’ve heard stories, read comments and finally caved – I finally tested the Xlash eyelash serum and after this in-depth review, you’ll want to get on the wagon too.
We tend to turn to mascaras for more voluminous and longer lashes. But this Xlash Eyelash Growth serum is known for doing all that without being a mascara you have to remove with makeup wipes. I first heard about the Xlash Eyelash Growth Serum from my lash tech – yes I’m one of those girls. And so, I got curious.
The product talks about how its formula can give you longer and thicker lashes, while also strengthening them. In fact, they say your lashes would be 70% longer and 33% fuller. Apparently, what the Xlash eyelash serum does is prolong your lashes’ growth cycle. The serum’s formula also stimulates the hair follicles to encourage growth while supplying nutrients to ensure a healthier environment for your lashes.
I’m hooked onto extensions. But I also have “itchy” hands that can’t help but tug at my lashes from time to time. My natural lashes wind up falling quicker than they should and I end up at my next appointment with rather sparse hairs. I fell into the vicious cycle where my lash tech would end up giving me a mini-lecture over whether I rub my eyes, why I’m not using a lash serum, and so on.
Truth be told, I never saw myself investing in one of these eyelash growth serums because of its hefty price tag. Yes, there are cheaper alternatives, but those never seemed to work. Also, my extensions already cost a bomb and I felt that extensions were more than enough to cover the sparseness. But one day, after I managed to get that last pesky extension off, I took a closer look at the mirror and was shook, to say the least. I knew I had a good volume of lashes but this time, all I saw were gaps and baby strands. And so, I was convinced. After all, the Xlash Eyelash Growth Serum is the top-ranked eyelash serum in Europe and was also voted the best eyelash serum in Singapore from 2020 to 2024, so why not?
With biotin, hyaluronic acid, and green tea, the formula contains only natural plant extracts and other safe ingredients. The Xlash Eyelash Growth Serum has been hypoallergenic and ophthalmologist-tested as well, so rest-assured!
Although you can use eyelash serum at any point of the day, Xlash recommends adding it to your nighttime routine, right before you turn in. This ensures more than enough time for your skin to fully absorb all the goodies in the serum, without any external factors and impurities getting in the way.
Step-by-step guide for Xlash Eyelash Growth Serum application:
Don’t forget your nightly application of the Xlash Eyelash Growth serum. According to the brand’s guide, we should be doing this daily for about 8 to 10 weeks. But then again, you’d likely see pretty noticeable results in just 2 weeks. There’s also an eyelash ruler included, so make use of that if you want to track your progress more accurately.
The packaging, the applicator and the texture of the formula – bougie, bougie, bougie. It arrived in a regular cardboard box but inside was a proper, atas box that held the eyelash serum. In my excitement, and no thanks to my destroyer of a dog, all I could salvage after looking at the product itself was… nothing. But, here’s a look at the inner box and the product.
The bottle was smooth and matte; you can understand why I said it’s luxe. But what I really enjoyed was the formula. It looks and feels like water (completely transparent!) and I almost couldn’t believe they mentioned that just one dose is enough for both eyes. It’s true, though, and I was already expecting the formula to flow into my eyes, but it didn’t. For something so light and somehow watery, it didn’t budge at all, and it felt like nothing on my lids. Plus, there’s no funky smell or fragrance too – perfect for my girlies with sensitive lids. So off I went with the rest of my skincare and pre-bedtime routine after applying the eyelash serum, and this is how the next 6 days went.
Disclaimer: I know the brand said six to eight weeks, but they mentioned people could also see noticeable results in just 14 days. So I decided to really put this to the test by applying the serum diligently and tracking the results across a mere 7 days.
Here are my lashes before any application was done. I’d just had my final lash extensions fall off and you can see the lashes on the left (facing the picture) are all right. But the ones on the right are kind of sparse and short.
My bare lashes on both eyes are just coming up to be about 5-6mm in length.
After 3 consecutive nights of application, the overall length of the lashes doesn’t seem to have changed much. But then again, you can see that each strand is slightly thicker. And there seems to be more growth; some baby strands are coming through and the previously short ones are slightly longer. My guess was that my lashes were going through their natural cycle and halfway through this experiment, some of them fell, which explains why I couldn’t see much of a difference.
I hope the pictures speak for themselves. My lashes after 7 full days have grown about 3mm. And they’re so much thicker now as compared to before! There are even more baby strands and I can’t be more pleased – my natural lashes look super long, thick and healthy, and I honestly couldn’t believe how effective the Xlash Eyelash Growth Serum is.
I’m just going to be straight with you – WOW.
Volume, check. Length, check. But that’s not all. I’ve noticed less fallout, which probably contributed to the overall volume too. And I thought it was just me, but a couple of days after I ended this 7-day trial, I visited my lash tech.
The first thing she said was, “What did you use? Your lashes got [sic] more already!”
That confirms it. She added that my lashes weren’t just long but there were a lot more strands as compared to before. Mind you, she’s been my go-to for the last two years, so she knows my lashes inside out – we’ve literally gone through thick and thin.
If you need more proof: here are some of my bare skin pics over the entire week from before to after using Xlash Eyelash Growth Serum.
Apparently, the Xlash eyelash serum has been tested in several different independent research laboratories. So far, results confirm that Xlash is safe for use on skin; meaning no side effects. After all, product descriptions state that the Xlash eyelash serum doesn’t contain harsh chemicals – it’s all natural!
I don’t really have issues with sensitivity, so you probably won’t take my word when I say there aren’t any side effects. But I’ve checked with other users with sensitivity issues, and they’ve said that the Xlash Eyelash Growth Serum doesn’t irritate or cause any side effects for them.
The word ‘pro’ in its name might confuse you. But the only difference here is the amount of product. The original Xlash Eyelash Growth Serum only comes in the size 1ml and 3ml. But the XLASH PRO Eyelash Growth Serum is 6ml in size.
If you’re thinking about the amount you need, personally, the 3ml is enough and it’s supposed to last you about 2-3 months. And while you shouldn’t be double dipping, the applicator is still exposed to the surroundings, especially our skin and eyes. So if hygiene is your concern, the 3ml would be more suitable. But if you tend to keep things clean and sanitised after every use, perhaps the 6ml would do you good – it’s more value-for-money too!
What do you do after the initial six to eight weeks? If you stop using the Xlash eyelash serum, your lashes will gradually return to their original state. This means that over time, you’d potentially see more fall out, less volume and length. To ensure your lashes’ longevity, it’s best you continue application. But instead of applying it every day, you’ll just need to do it about two to three times every week.
I get the price difference between the Xlash Eyelash Growth serum and other similar products in the market. But if you’re tired of trying eyelash growth serums that don’t seem to work, you have my word that the Xlash products are your golden ticket out of there.
The Xlash Eyelash Growth Serum is definitely super value-for-money. After all, it’s not really a makeup product, as in mascara, but more of a skincare product. It’s also priced rather reasonably — considering the amazing results. Plus, there’s no irritation, it doesn’t get in the way of my skincare routine, hasn’t caused any breakouts, all with the guaranteed results of growth, volume and strength. Along with the fact that I only used it for 7 days?
I’ve only been using this over a shorter period of time since I was going to get extensions done. But if you’re going au naturale, you should adhere to the 8-10 weeks guideline for the ultimate falsies-like lashes. 7 days was all it took for really noticeable results, and Xlash promises that in 28 days, so just imagine what 56 to 70 days could be like!
