If you’re anything like me, you probably don’t like leaving the house without smelling good. And with Valentine’s Day around the corner, it’s a good excuse to find your next signature scent, whether that’s for yourself or your partner. Because perfume is such a personal thing, choosing the right one really matters. That’s why I’ve put together a list of the best ladies’ perfumes in Singapore that wear well in our humid weather and are easy to choose from even if you can’t smell them in person.
Whether you’re buying perfume for yourself or as a gift for your partner, blind-buying perfume online can be pretty intimidating. You can’t just bring your nose to the screen and take a whiff, after all!
So, how do you choose the right perfume without smelling them first? When you can’t smell a perfume in person, the best place to start is by understanding its scent notes. These layers work together to shape how a perfume smells over time:
Even without sampling the scent, these notes can give you a good idea of how a perfume might wear and develop over time. That said, the only real way to know how a fragrance works for you is to try it on your skin, as perfumes can smell different depending on individual body chemistry!
Easily one of the top 10 perfumes for women, Christian Dior’s Miss Dior Blooming Bouquet is classic for a reason. Its scent is fresh, floral, and feminine, with notes of peony and sweet pea that will make you smell like flowers in bloom. Its base note of white musk leaves a mature, powdery scent for a sophisticated sillage.
As an eau de toilette (EDT), it’s lighter and won’t last as long as more concentrated fragrances. Still, Miss Dior Blooming Bouquet is one of my top recommendations among the best ladies’ perfumes in Singapore as its fresh, airy scent makes it especially pleasant to wear when you’re out and about!
It’s no surprise that this Chloe perfume is still among the best perfumes for women. The Chloe Signature EDP is a clean, soapy floral scent that lingers from day to night, making it one of my personal go-to choices when I’m in the mood for something romantic. The fragrance feels delicate yet still noticeable, so trust me when I say you’ll leave a scent trail wherever you go!
If you’ve watched Bridgerton, you’ll probably understand when I say this feels like a quintessential “Daphne Bridgerton” fragrance. It’s powdery and romantic, with notes of rose and magnolia that give it that elegant, pastel-soft aesthetic. It also makes a great Valentine’s Day gift if your partner is drawn to softer, feminine scents!
My sister calls this her “clean girl scent,” and I completely agree! While Elizabeth Arden is better known for scents like Green Tea and Red Door, their White Tea Eau Florale combines the luminous scent of white tea with the floral fragrance of pink orris, freesia, and honeysuckle for a delicate and feminine scent that is definitely clean girl.
Since it’s an EDT, don’t expect the scent to last all day. On my skin, it lasted around two hours before fading into a subtle skin scent. Its softness does have its advantages, though! The sillage stays close, which makes it an easy everyday choice when you want something fresh and clean without drawing too much attention. Wear it to brunch, the office, or on a date, and get those compliments!
This is where we move into scents that are a little more appetising. Gourmand perfumes can be tricky to get right, and I can understand why. In Singapore’s heat, sticky-sweet notes can easily turn cloying, almost like melted caramel candy on a hot day. That’s probably why gourmands tend to be more polarising in our humid climate.
Still, if you’re drawn to gourmand scents, there are fragrances that strike a better balance. So don’t worry, I got you! My top pick is Maison Margiela Replica Coffee Break. It’s a cosy blend of lavender, milk and coffee that will make you smell delicious, without being too heavy. Rather than being cloyingly sweet, it wears gently on the skin, with a warm, powdery finish that feels more like stepping into a quiet café than smelling like coffee beans. It’s a safe blind buy too, especially if you’re just getting into gourmands.
You don’t always need complex fragrances to smell good. Beauty lies in simplicity, and you can definitely get this vibe with the Nefertum Fragrances Sandal & Cedar Extrait De Parfum Perfume. Its rich and warm woody scent exudes natural sensuality, making it one of the best ladies’ perfumes for women who want a scent that isn’t too complex. Bonus, it’s designed to be more concentrated than an EDP, so you can bet this is notably long-lasting compared to most perfumes!
As a side note, single-note perfumes feature only one basic scent (in this case, woody). While they are great worn on their own, I personally prefer to layer with other perfumes to create a more complex fragrance. If you’re the same, try layering it on to add a woodsy note to your usual fragrance for a signature scent that no one else can replicate!
I’ve always been a fan of Tiffany&Co.’s signature EDP, but the Tiffany&Co. Rose Gold EDP is a fragrance of its own. Taking inspiration from the floral notes of the original Tiffany’s perfume, the Rose Gold version adds a fruity twist to its scent with a top note of blackcurrant followed by the elegant scent of blue roses. You can’t not feel expensive while wearing this perfume!
What’s more, Tiffany&Co. is known for having a higher concentration of perfume oil in their scents, so you can be sure this long-wearing perfume was made to stay put from day to night. In fact, I wore this to a wedding once, and I could still smell the fruity-floral fragrance after eight hours! And hey guys, this perfume makes a classy Valentine’s Day gift that your girl is sure to love. Hint hint!
With a name like Singapore Girl, you just know this scent is made for us! Singapore Girl by Singapore Memories captures a scent that’s both familiar yet modern. It’s actually a revived scent, based on the 1970’s fragrance of the same name, so there’s a bit of history behind this scent too!
It’s one of the best ladies’ perfumes in Singapore as it makes a great summer fragrance. The scent itself is light and graceful, opening fresh with soft citrus notes, before leading to more floral scents with lotus and water lily. As it settles, a base of teakwood adds warmth and depth, grounding the fragrance without weighing it down. So if you want a scent that’s a little closer to home, Singapore Girl is a lovely one to have on your shelf.
I’ll be honest and say that I don’t often go for green, woodsy scents, but this one surprised me. The Hermes Un Jardin Sur Le Toit has a refreshing, green scent that captures the unique vibe of an English herb garden. It has notes of basil and grass that give the EDT its fresh scents, and crisp pears and apples for a slightly sweet, fruity sillage.
Even its perfume bottle is refreshingly green! I was surprised to like this perfume as I don’t typically go for herb notes, but the Hermes Un Jardin Sur Le Toit works well when paired with floral fragrances for a unique signature scent. On its own, it’s a great woodsy-green perfume that’s sure to liven up any OOTD! It’s now one of my top perfume recommendations for women who like clean, zesty fragrances.
I genuinely can’t stress enough how good this perfume smells! Two of my all-time favourite scents come from Yves Saint Laurent: Mon Paris and Libre, but Yves Saint Laurent Libre is the one I reach for whenever I’m heading out at night. Whether it’s a date, a special occasion, or a night out with friends, it’s the perfume I trust to stay on all night, no matter where I go.
Compared to most of the scents on this list, YSL Libre leans slightly heavier and more mature. It gives off that strong “girl boss” energy (Dua Lipa being the face of the fragrance definitely helps). You’ll feel confident and sexy without being too bold. Musky, spicy, and subtly floral, it’s within my top recommendations for women’s perfumes!
A fun bonus for K-pop fans, this one’s famous beyond just fragrance circles. W.Dressroom April Cotton has gained cult status in part because it’s reportedly a favourite scent of BTS’s Jungkook, something many ARMYs have known since he was first seen using it years ago. With BTS making a comeback this year, it feels especially fitting to revisit a scent that fans have loved alongside them for so long.
And, even if you’re not a fan, W.Dressroom No. 97 (April Cotton) is an everyday scent that’s hard not to like. It smells just like fresh, clean laundry, and wears evenly rather than developing in dramatic layers like typical perfumes do. It’s also fabric-safe, so you can lightly mist it on clothes or bedding to help the scent linger, making it an affordable, low-effort perfume for daily use.
This one’s for the girlies who love aquatics! If there’s one profile Issey Miyake does best, it’s aquatic fragrances, and the Issey Miyake L’eau D’issey for Women captures the scent of morning dew drops on crisp, green grass and soft florals. I wouldn’t say it’s one of the most complex perfumes I have in my collection, but it’s a cool, refreshing fragrance for spring with its notes of lotus and rose.
One thing I noticed was how this perfume projected in the summer. The Issey Miyake L’eau D’issey has better sillage in warm weather, and the humidity projects its notes with longer-lasting fragrance. It’s one of the best ladies’ perfumes in Singapore for this reason, as it smells even more divine in our weather!
