15 Chinese Restaurants With Private Rooms For CNY Reunion Dinners

For me, Chinese New Year reunion dinner is all about keeping it simple and cosy — usually a steamboat dinner at my grandparents’ place. But if you’re more into dining out, Chinese restaurants with private rooms can be a great choice for extra privacy, a more formal vibe, or just a special treat. Whether you’re looking for budget-friendly options under $100 per person or willing to splurge on a fancy spot with perks like karaoke systems, I’ll be sharing a list that suits every preference!

Hai Di Lao is a name that needs no introduction — it’s a hotpot favourite for good reason! When dining with friends, I typically spend around $30 – $40 per person, which feels like great value given the quality of the food and service. If you’re planning to check it out, I highly recommend the Marina Square outlet. It boasts private rooms with a futuristic theme that’s truly one-of-a-kind.

Imagine dining amidst cascading waterfalls, lifelike animal projections, and serene nature-inspired elements that transport you to a tranquil escape from the hustle and bustle of the city. Food-wise, their tomato soup base is an all-time favourite — it’s rich, tangy, and incredibly comforting. Lately, I’ve also been loving their curry soup base, which brings a bold and aromatic twist to the classic hotpot flavours.

2. Beauty In The Pot (KINEX)

Another hotpot favourite that deserves a shoutout is Hai Di Lao’s well-known rival, Beauty in The Pot. While all their outlets have their own charm, I personally love the KINEX branch. Its stunning cherry blossom pink decor feels festive and inviting — doesn’t it just scream prosperity?

Their collagen soup base is a must-try; it’s rich, nourishing, and feels like a warm hug in a bowl. And don’t miss their refreshing yuzu slush, the perfect way to end the meal on a light, zesty note. On average, I spend about $40 – $50 per person, and it always feels worth it for the experience. Apart from KINEX, other outlets like VivoCity and NEX also offer private dining rooms, allowing you to skip the snakin’ long queues!

Address: KINEX, 11 Tanjong Katong Road, #03-38, S(437157)

Imperial Treasure Steamboat is another excellent choice for hotpot lovers, and it has no shortage of glowing reviews to back it up. One diner praised the excellent service, with staff regularly checking in to refill the soup and clear empty plates. The mala soup base is flavourful but not overly numbing or oily, making it drinkable. Additionally, the portions are generous, and the ingredients — from tender meats to fresh vegetables and seafood — are of the highest quality.

If you’re dining here, booking a private room is highly recommended. It lets you enjoy your meal in peace and have uninterrupted conversations. With its attentive service, delicious food, and cosy setting, Imperial Treasure Steamboat’s overall experience is flawless.

5. Kai Duck

CNY set menu: Starting from $528/pax (Min. 4 pax)

How do you get millennials to fall in love with traditional Cantonese cuisine? Kai Duck, the sister outlet of Kai Garden, has nailed it. From the moment I tried their Peking Duck, I was hooked — the crispy skin was perfectly done, whereas the meat was so juicy. And their braised dried seafood with shark’s fin soup? Wow. It was full of flavour, a true reminder of why Cantonese food is so special.

Even though it’s meant to be a casual dining spot, Kai Duck feels elegant and steeped in heritage – think lavish decor that feels like you’ve stepped into an emperor’s courtyard. I love how they’ve kept that traditional vibe while making the space inviting and comfortable.

The one Michelin-starred Summer Pavilion offers a refined chinois setting that’s perfect for celebrating special occasions, especially with older family members who appreciate elegance and tradition. The restaurant’s six private dining rooms, named after oriental plants like Pine and Wisteria, exude sophistication and exclusivity. Each room is thoughtfully designed, featuring hand-painted tableware that adds an artistic touch to the dining experience.

A highlight of their CNY menu is their exceptional Yu Sheng creations, which go far beyond the ordinary. The Canadian Lobster Yu Sheng features succulent lobster paired with fresh, vibrant ingredients. For something even more unique, the Prickly Sea Cucumber Yu Sheng is a masterpiece — it combines the rich, briny flavours of premium sea cucumber with the refreshing crunch of traditional Yu Sheng components.

(Credit: Four Seasons Hotel Singapore)

CNY set menu: Starting from $158/pax

I haven’t been to Jiang-Nan Chun yet, but when I was looking for options for my grandma’s birthday celebration, it caught my eye. What stood out to me was the variety of private dining options, but the Chef’s Table Room is by far the most unique. It’s amazing for intimate gatherings of up to eight guests, featuring a round table next to the Chef’s Table. This offers guests a front-row seat to watch Executive Chef Hideki Maeda and his culinary team perform live, creating each dish à la minute in a true gastronomic show.

The menu promises an impressive array of premium seafood, starting with Chilled South African Abalone with Pomelo and Alaskan King Crab. If you’re looking for a dining experience that combines culinary artistry and exceptional food, Jiang-Nan Chun seems like a place to indulge in luxury. And if you need more space, the Chef’s Table Room can be combined with the Sake Room, accommodating gatherings of up to 20 guests.

At Jie He Grand, dining is more than just about the food — it’s an experience. This personal touch adds an enriching layer to the meal, allowing you to appreciate the heritage and craftsmanship behind every plate.

I’ve been to Yan Palace a couple of times for wedding lunches, and it’s always a great experience. The food is simple yet delicious, with that traditional Chinese taste that feels comforting and familiar. The atmosphere has this nostalgic, old-school charm that makes you feel right at home.

Yan Palace has 10 private rooms, each fitting up to 60 people, and they’re all equipped with a KTV system. There are always enough mics to go around, so everyone can belt out their favourite songs and turn the event into an unforgettable karaoke party!

CNY set menu: Starting from $89 (Min. 2 pax)

Everyone around me loves Chinese food, and one spot we can’t get enough of is Chuan Yang Ji Steamboat! The soup is insanely flavourful, like a rich tonkotsu ramen broth but with mutton. And those melt-in-your-mouth lamb ribs? Seriously amazing! Don’t forget to try their funky Chinese appetisers too.

They offer set menus for 2 to 4 people starting at $89, which is a great deal. The private rooms here are a great mix of traditional Chinese oriental design with a modern touch. The lighting is bright and welcoming, and the KTV systems (similar to Teo Heng) make it easy to keep the fun going long after the food is served.

What’s also great is their private dining rooms with KTV. There’s no extra charge if you’re dining with at least 5 people, so you can enjoy amazing food and karaoke with friends or family without the extra costs. It’s certainly a fun, affordable spot that’s worth a visit if you’re staying nearby!

15. Tian Fang Pavilion

(Credit: Tian Fang Pavilion)

Ala-carte dishes only

If you’re a meat lover like me, you have to try Tian Fang Pavilion, a Chaoshan-style hotpot restaurant. The chefs here know their stuff, focusing on three key elements: a rich beef stock base, top-quality beef, and unique dipping sauces. I love how the hotpot is milder, making it suitable for those who aren’t into super spicy food. The Sha Cha Jiang, a Fujian-style sauce with shrimp, peanuts, and soy sauce, adds a delicious nutty saltiness to the beef. On the other hand, the Yu Zi Jiang gives a lovely umami kick that complements the beef perfectly.

The restaurant also offers private rooms, which are beautifully decorated with a colourful, vibrant touch. Plus, their KTV system is top-notch, with clear sound that makes it easy to enjoy a fun karaoke session while you dig into your hotpot feast.

Address: 269 / 271 New Bridge Road, S(088747)
