Party alert! One night only, Haw Par Villa – Singapore’s legendary surreal theme park – transforms into an open-air neon party playground for Haw Par Thrilla #5. Hosted by two beloved local music collectives, Ice Cream Sundays (ICS) and Darker Than Wax (DTW), this event promises an eclectic mix of funky house, disco, and global beats set against Haw Par’s iconic statues and dioramas. The Culture Courtyard will be bumping with a brand-new stage and custom lights, plus cool extras like a glowing neon chess corner by Aliwal Chess Club for you to challenge your mates between dances. Dubbed “Jumptopia Lite: Bounce Beyond!”, it features three candy-themed obstacle courses filled with huge slides (up to 6.5m tall!), colourful ball pits, tunnels and all the boundless bouncy fun you can imagine. I scream, you scream, we all scream for… making our own ice cream! The Museum of Ice Cream’s popular “Sundae School” workshops are back this June by pop-ular demand. In these 45-minute sessions, little chefs (and big kids at heart) get to mix, churn and freeze their very own ice cream flavour from scratch – be it minty-fresh, chocolatey-rich or strawberry-sweet, with tons of toppings to choose from. At the end of class, you graduate as a certified Scoop Master (complete with a cute certificate) and gain all-day access to the Museum of Ice Cream’s whimsical exhibits.

Standard Bun, the cult-favourite bakery from South Korea known for its ultra-fluffy sweet buns, has landed in Singapore with not one but two pop-up stores! Swing by Suntec City or Bugis Junction to get your hands on over 25 flavours of decadent dessert buns, from classic cream-filled to creative seasonal specials. This free activity in Singapore features 17 mesmerising installations by 20 local and international artists, all centred around the theme “To Gather”. For the first time, the glowing action isn’t just at Marina Bay; it’s spreading its radiance to new locations like South Beach, the Singapore River, and Raffles Place. Stroll along the waterfront amid larger-than-life light sculptures, interactive projections and IG-worthy displays. Did we mention it’s eco-friendly? 7. GastroBeats 2025

This massive food and music festival is back to feed your soul (and stomach) with free live music performances, a street food bazaar of 50+ vendors, and even a carnival playground. New this year is a quirky collab with local art collective Jelilo – expect giant cartoon characters like Captain Skull and friends roaming around for wacky selfie moments. Chow down on everything from Warabimochi to tacos and local delights, then work off the calories grooving to nightly bands and DJs. Music fans, check out the “Rewind. Replay. Remix: SG Edition” – an immersive experience spanning Singapore’s music history across three themed zones.

8. Gallery Children’s Biennale 2025

Little ones and art lovers, rejoice – the Gallery Children’s Biennale is back at National Gallery Singapore, and the new edition blasts off this weekend! Launching on 31 May, this fifth Biennale is themed “Tomorrow We’ll Be…” and it’s all about imagination and the future. The Gallery is celebrating its 10th birthday (and Singapore’s 60th), so they’ve pulled out all the stops. Expect eight immersive, multi-sensory art installations by local and international artists, each inviting kiddos (and the young at heart) to play, create, and daydream. 9. Disney’s Stitch Takeover at VivoCity

Ohana means family – and this school holiday, it also means Stitch is everywhere! Head down to VivoCity, where the open-air plaza and mall space have been transformed into a Lilo & Stitch extravaganza. I checked it out with my boyfriend yesterday and spotted a few fun, carnival-style game booths. But the real star of the show is a massive 4.5-metre tall Stitch installation at the Outdoor Plaza! On top of that, Miniso has launched its first-ever Stitch Pop-up store right there, offering exclusive Stitch plushies, blind box toys, and other merch. You’d expect the prices to be marked up, but surprisingly, they’re pretty reasonable (a blind box is around $24.90).

As part of the June holiday specials, GBTB is hosting a one-night screening of Inside Out 2 on the lawn, and it comes with a ton of fun fringe activities. Come early (from 5pm) to join a Nerf gun battle, get the kids a cool airbrush tattoo, be wowed by a roaming magician, or let them burn energy on the bouncy castle. 14. Pop Air – Art is Inflatable (Balloon Museum Exhibition)

The world-famous Balloon Museum from Italy has landed in Singapore for the first time, bringing with it a fantastical exhibition called Pop Air: Art is Inflatable. Housed in a massive hall at Marina Bay Sands, Pop Air is basically a giant playground of art made from balloons. Wander through rooms filled with towering inflatable sculptures, trippy glowing orbs, and bouncy installations that blur the line between art and amusement park. You can dive into a balloon ball pit universe, swing from a cloud, and marvel at how air and imagination combine to create surreal visuals.

15. Peranakan Reimagined (SG60 @ Sentosa)

In honour of Singapore’s 60th birthday (SG60), Sentosa has launched Peranakan Reimagined – a free event in Singapore celebrating Peranakan culture with a modern twist. Stroll through Sensoryscape on Sentosa and you’ll encounter an intricately designed Peranakan House brought to life with vivid projection mapping and dazzling light shows. Dive into the culture by checking out exhibits of ornate Nyonya jewellery and traditional instruments, or even rent a Kebaya on-site for a fun dress-up and photo shoot around the heritage displays. The experience spills into the skies too – look up and you might spot Peranakan-themed cable cars flying overhead, decked out in colourful motifs.

16. The Phantom of the Opera

The Phantom of the Opera is making a grand return to Singapore, and it’s set to be the theatrical highlight of the year. This is Andrew Lloyd Webber’s iconic musical that has smashed records worldwide (70+ major awards, 160 million people enchanted across 46 countries). It’s the haunting love story of a mysterious, masked musical genius who lurks beneath a Paris opera house and the young soprano he becomes obsessed with – all told through spellbinding music and sumptuous stage designs.
