DnA Fest (short for Dido & Aeneas Festival) is a bold mash-up of modern opera, film, and drag – definitely not your typical weekend fare. Curated by local arts group T:>Works, this festival reimagines the classic opera Dido and Aeneas in wildly creative ways. One evening might have you watching The House of Janus, a film by acclaimed director Ong Keng Sen that puts a contemporary twist on Purcell’s opera (fun fact: Ong Keng Sen also directed the iconic local movie Army Daze, so expect both artistry and humour). Another night, get ready to hoot and holler at Dido & The Belindas, a drag extravaganza led by Singapore’s queen bee Becca D’Bus – picture lavish costumes, sassy lip-syncs, and opera arias served with a side of camp. Singaporean artist Sara Street has brought her adorably moody cherry characters back for the 100 Grumpy Cherries Pop-Up, hosted at Catalog – Singapore’s first retro office-themed concept store. The setup is like stepping into a whimsical kissaten-inspired dessert cafe, with parfait motifs everywhere and exactly 100 one-of-a-kind cherry figurines on display. These aren’t your ordinary cherries – each handmade clay cherry has its own grumpy-cute expression, and 15 of them are ultra-rare editions (plus a life-sized giant cherry that’s basically begging to be your next Instagram prop)!

The world-famous Balloon Museum from Italy has landed in Singapore for the first time, bringing with it a fantastical exhibition called Pop Air: Art is Inflatable. Housed in a massive hall at Marina Bay Sands, Pop Air is basically a giant playground of art made from balloons. Wander through rooms filled with towering inflatable sculptures, trippy glowing orbs, and bouncy installations that blur the line between art and amusement park.
