11 Best Luggage Brands In Singapore

Booked your tickets and all ready to jet off to your next trip? You’ll need reliable and sturdy luggage to travel with! The best luggage brands in Singapore would have luggage that’s durable enough to withstand the rigours of baggage-handling, yet spacious and secure enough for your travel essentials (and loots). I’ve checked out the most popular luggage brands in Singapore from Samsonite and Travel Time to MUJI and Xiaomi so you can find your next travel buddy!

1. Best all-around luggage brand: Samsonite

(Credit: Metapod Official Store)

Why we love it What we’d want to see
  • Durable, sturdy and lasted me well over 10 years!
  • Some of the smoothest-rolling wheels yet
  • Reduced weight; Samsonite luggage aren’t the heaviest but they’re definitely heavier than other options

You’ll always need a reliable travel companion that’ll keep all your belongings organised and secure. And there’s no reason why you can’t trust the Samsonite brand. I’ve been using an old Samsonite luggage for at least five years now and it’s still going. It’s a hand-me-down from a family friend, so I don’t even think the model I have is available online anymore, but it’s lasted for over 10 years!

And honestly, there’s nothing to complain about with Samsonite luggage. Straightforward, fuss-free and long-lasting without an exorbitant price tag. My Samsonite luggage is also the reason why I started developing a taste for zipless luggage. It’s easier to work with even if it’s priced a little higher than your usual luggage. It’s also a little harder to find, so if you’re fond of the fuss-free experience, you’d best cop it. Otherwise, I find that the Samsonite Pivot 3 Spinner is more than enough. And like all Samsonite luggage, it rolls just as smoothly – a lot more than those from other brands, you won’t find anything like it.

But one thing I do notice is how the Samsonite palette seems to be rather plain. Thankfully, there’s the Red TOIIS Spinner that features a personalisation colour kit. You can easily change out the exterior logos, wheel caps, and handles with those of different shades. It adds that extra pop of fun and you don’t have to compromise on your luggage’s quality!

2. Best lightweight luggage brand: Eminent

(Credit: The Travel Store)

Why we love it What we’d want to see
  • Durable yet lightweight hard shell that’s impact resistant and heat-resistant up to 120°C
  • Wide range of luggage sizes from large, 28-inch check-in luggage to cabin-sized suitcases
  • More flexible warranty – with the telescopic handle, zippers, and spinner wheels susceptible to wear and tear, I hoped Eminent would have a more flexible warranty policy

Eminent is another popular luggage brand that’s known for its durability without all that weight. That means more luggage allowance for your travel haul! I personally love the Eminent Jello series as it combines the durability of hard-shell luggage with the flexibility you’d usually find in soft-sided options. It’s made with Makrolon® polycarbonate, which gives the Eminent luggage its semi-transparent finish and extra-durable material. I’ve tested out my older unit during my recent trip, and it survived the tosses and turns of the baggage carousel and my long commute to my hotel.

And talk about lightweight! Even packed with clothes for a week-long trip, my Eminent luggage felt light and glided smoothly across the different terrains thanks to its spinner wheels. The brand claims its luggage is 20% – 30% lighter than others, and I could really feel the difference. It also helps that the light material didn’t weigh down my check-in luggage, keeping me well within the airlines’ baggage weight limits.

That said, I do wish Eminent offered a more generous warranty as their luggage is covered for up to seven years, which falls a bit short compared to other premium luggage brands. While the luggage seems durable, having a more flexible warranty would help fix up any issues from regular wear and tear, like loose handles or luggage wheel replacements. Still, for its lightweight performance and durability, Eminent definitely takes a spot as one of the best luggage brands in Singapore!

3. Premium luggage brand: Briggs & Riley

(Credit: The Planet Traveller Official Store)

Why we love it What we’d want to see
  • Trusted luggage brand by airline crew and pilots
  • Extremely durable and scratch-resistant polycarbonate material with high impact-resistance
  • Tilt-resistant wheel base
  • Crease-minimising garment panels
  • And many more premium features
  • More affordable models because it can cost the same, or even more, than your entire trip
  • Wider range of styles to cater to different aesthetics.

Hello, this is your captain travelling! Ever wondered what luggage brand pilots and airline crews use? Many cabin crew personnel say their go-to luggage brand is Briggs & Riley, and it’s easy to see why. This premium brand is a top choice for frequent flyers, thanks to its reliable build and thoughtful design that suits the fast-paced travel lifestyle. They’re designed to sustain back-to-back flights, so you can see why they’re usually owned by cabin crew. Besides, I love the tough and sleek exterior that’s built to keep up with your travels.

For instance, the Baseline Essential Carry-On Spinner is made with aircraft-grade aluminium and ballistic nylon fabric to upgrade the ante. These materials not only make the luggage super atas, they keep it durable enough to keep up with your travels too! Alternatively, go for their Torq 2.0, an extra large trunk spinner that’s made with a highly-resistant, scratch-resilient and strong polycarbonate material. But don’t worry about that hard shell, the luggage is still pretty lightweight. You’ll get all the bells and whistles at a justified price, like the crease-minimising garment panels, tilt-resistant wheel base, and more, without the additional burden!

4. Luggage brand with the best value: American Tourister

(Credit: American Tourister Official Store)

Why we love it What we’d want to see
  • Value for money with high-quality luggage at competitive prices, especially the 3-piece set for the price of 1!
  • Lightweight without compromising on quality
  • Wide range of colours available
  • More soft-shell luggage options as most of American Tourister’s luggage have a hard-shell casing.

Let’s be honest, travelling can get pretty expensive. That’s why it makes sense to invest in luggage that gives you the best bang for your buck. This doesn’t mean buying the cheapest luggage brand you can find, but it means choosing luggage brands that deliver quality without breaking the bank.

You’ve probably heard of (or even owned) American Tourister luggage. Owned by Samsonite, American Tourister is one of the best luggage brands in Singapore that offers high-quality luggage at a lower price. I like to think of them as sort of like a more budget-friendly alternative to the high prices of Samsonite luggage. In fact, American Tourister was one of the first luggage sets I owned, so I can attest to its quality! They offer that same sleek design, spacious compartments, and durable materials as Samsonite luggage without the hefty price tag.

Take their Brink model, a three-piece set that includes all the sizes you need. It’s made with tough acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene (ABS) material, and smooth-rolling double wheels for easy manoeuvring. There’s even clever little extras with a phone holder clipped on the trolley handle, and size-studs that double as carry hooks for your cabin essentials. Besides, at less than $250 for a set of three, no budget Singaporean would be able to resist this set!

5. Most stylish luggage brand: Pierre Cardin

(Credit: Travelite Official Store)

Why we love it What we’d want to see
  • Elegant and stylish luggage designs let you match your travel gear for that luxury aesthetic.
  • High-quality materials ensure durability and longevity.
  • Larger colour palette with more varied features

My sister is a stylish traveller. She’s the type to plan ahead for her airport OOTDs, and that includes getting a carry-on to match! If this sounds like you, then Pierre Cardin is likely up your alley. Known for its fashion designs and reign over haute couture, Pierre Cardin is top-notch when it comes to quality. But did you know they also have some of the most stylish luggage options in Singapore? Containing features that secure their spot among the top, Pierre Cardin is no doubt one of the best luggage brands in Singapore.

The Pierre Cardin luggage collection reflects the brand’s reputation for elegance and style. Its hard case and soft case luggage feature sleek designs, premium materials, and smooth-rolling wheels that glide effortlessly. Its luggage models, like the pastel series Polycarbonate Expandable Trolley Suitcase and the more retro-style suitcases, often come in different colours and designs so you can personalise your travel gear to suit your style. But don’t let the sleek finish fool you as these luggage models are durable, lightweight, and functional!

6. Most family-friendly: Urbanlite

(Credit: Universal Traveller Official Store)

Why we love it What we’d want to see
  • Mostly available in sets, great for family travelling
  • Ultra-durable material can withstand the impact of moving around checked baggage.
  • Unique designs let you identify your luggage at a glance.
  • Urbanlite luggage reviews are good, with many saying it’s one of the best luggage brands they own.
  • More colour options to travel in style!
  • Smoother wheel spinner that can glide across different airport flooring.

We can’t talk about the best luggage brands in Singapore without an Urbanlite luggage review. A branch of Universal Traveller, Urbanlite specialises in producing premium and reliable luggage options spanning hard cases to soft ones. They’re also designed to make your luggage easy to identify from the sea of other luggage on the conveyor belt.

What’s more, most of its models, like its TRAPEZ Luggage, feature a hard shell that can withstand the high impact of your luggage being thrown around without the material cracking or bending. It’s also available in a set of three, much like its many other options, such as their VERTEZ luggage and their newly-launched Terminal Trunk series. They’re all durable options for those who need peace of mind regarding the integrity of their check-in baggage. But more importantly, the perfect option for family travel with its friendlier price point and availability of sets.

7. Best soft-shell luggage: Delsey

(Credit: Delsey Singapore Official Store)

Why we love it What we’d want to see
  • One of the most spacious luggage options
  • Water-resistant and slash-proof recycled materials that make the luggage eco-friendly and durable.
  • Lightweight options that won’t weigh down your luggage.

Going abroad sort of grants you a free pass to buy almost anything and everything. You never really know how much luggage space you need. As a shopaholic, I can tell you that you won’t often find available space in my luggage after a full travel haul! So for trips where I know I’ll be bringing home a lot of goodies, I take my Delsey luggage with me.

Its soft-shell exterior is especially useful when I need to expand the luggage compartment or squeeze in any extra items. Plus, the model I own has an expandable space that zips open to keep more items in. It also has a front pocket to easily access (or store) a few essentials, as well as built-in compartments to keep my items organised.

Their sleek and vibrant designs coupled with a slew of functions is why Delsey is one of the best luggage brands in Singapore. Among their best models include the Freestyle 4DW and the Clavel, but it’s their soft-side luggage that I prefer most. Their New Destination series features a water-resistant finish, and an expandable compartment that keeps my travel hauls safe and dry. What’s more, Delsey also offers the Montmarte Air 2.0, which includes a massive, 32-inch soft-shell luggage with an expandable compartment for those trips when you need even more space!

8. Most rugged-looking and hardy: Wenger

(Credit: Travelite Official Store)

Why we love it What we’d want to see
  • Versatile luggage you can easily travel with
  • Functional features like double-wheel spinners and anti-theft zippers for extra convenience.
  • More variety in designs that can range from classic to modern.

This one’s a favourite of my friends who need to make sure their luggage is safe and secure throughout their travels. Backed by top Swiss brand Victorinox, you can’t go wrong with trusting Wenger for the best hard case and soft case luggage options in Singapore. In fact, they’re also recognised for producing gold-standard luggage bags that my friends are particularly fond of. These bags make great carry-on luggage, as their compact size and strong material can keep youritems secure during the flight.

Their hard-shell check-in luggage are just as impressive. And don’t worry, their top-of-the-line luggage models won’t leave a dent in your finances! Seriously, the Pegasus Hardside Spinner Trolley and the Legacy Expandable Hardcase Trolley may have some indents in their designs but they’re priced just a little above $100.

It’s one of the most rugged-looking and hardy-feeling luggage options that just gives you the sense of security. But that doesn’t mean they compromise on style. They’ve got some of the most versatile options too. Take the Motion and the SKYON, both in unique, vibrant colours, and the latter even opens from the top, leaving you more storage to plan around!

9. Most minimalist luggage: MUJI

(Credit: MUJI Official Store)

Why we love it What we’d want to see
  • Minimalist design that goes with almost any airport OOTD. Plus, MUJI luggage comes in different colours!
  • Lightweight yet sturdy luggage that’s small enough to bring on board as a carry-on.
  • Wider collection, since MUJI luggage tends to be limited in designs and sizes.

MUJI is no stranger to us with its signature zen and minimalist aesthetic. From Japanese-inspired designs and timeless fashion to sleek stationery, it’s hard to find anyone these days who hasn’t owned a MUJI item or two.

True to form, MUJI offers some of the best minimalist luggage in Singapore, with a design that is simple yet functional. Like the rest of its collection, the MUJI Luggage is designed to be a luggage that’s as durable as it is minimalist.

What’s more, MUJI luggage comes in varying sizes. It can be small and light enough to have as a carry-on, or big enough to hold all your travel essentials as checked luggage. It also  features an anti-glare matte finish, and basic compartments so you’ll have everything you need on hand. Plus, it doesn’t hurt that this luggage looks effortlessly chic with any airport fit!

10. Most hardy luggage brand: CAT

(Credit: Caterpillar Bags SG Official Store)

Why we love it What we’d want to see
  • Built to last with sturdy materials and well-constructed features
  • Industrial look for that urban-chic aesthetic and minimalism design
  • More variation in design and styles

You’ve probably seen CAT tools and boots, but did you know they make some sturdy luggage too? Designed with the same resilience in mind, Caterpillar, or better known as CAT, luggage is evidently durable, and even comes in an industrial-like look that shows off its hardiness. Case in point, the CAT Industrial Plate Luggage is hardy, impact-resistant and more than reliable. Much like their boots, this luggage was built to last.

CAT luggage is one of those exceptions where you can judge a book by its cover. This luggage doesn’t just look good, it has great features too. From the spacious compartment to the telescopic handle, and the silent glide wheel system, I was impressed with how well-constructed this luggage was. You can barely hear a peep from it!

11. No-frills luggage: Xiaomi

(Credit: Xiaomi Official)

Why we love it What we’d want to see
  • Well-known brand at an affordable price with the Xiaomi label and Xiaomi prices!
  • Durable and functional with an included flat-top design that you can use as a laptop stand or side table in a pinch.
  • More visibility with its luggage collection since Xiaomi is better known for its home appliances and smartphones.

Who hasn’t heard of Xiaomi? From home appliances to mobile phones, there’s a whole array of Xiaomi products that are known for their affordability and reliability. But that’s not the only reason why they’re such a household name. Their luggage models pull their own weight in aesthetics and functionality too.

Take the Xiaomi Luggage Classic Pro, for example. Its sleek hard case is made with polycarbonate material that’s known for its durability. On top of its anti-burst zip and built-in TSA lock to keep things secure, it also has an antibacterial lining that ensures your items are kept clean. All this (and more) for less than $150 for a 20-inch luggage! And if you prefer something more sturdy, their Xiaomi Aluminum Frame Luggage boasts similar qualities with elevated reliability!

What to consider when choosing a luggage?

From brutal baggage handlers to rugged terrains, your luggage goes through a lot. To ensure it doesn’t fall apart after years of storage or worse, splitting into half upon landing in a foreign country, it’s worth investing in a quality one that can withstand heavy physical demands. From types of luggage to what kind of wheels to choose, here’s what you should look out for when buying one.

  • Type of luggage & material

There are two main types of luggage: Hard-sided and soft-sided. While the best soft case luggage in Singapore tends to offer more flexibility for expansion (although some hard case luggage offers this too), some of the best hard case luggage in Singapore help limit your packing. Hardside bags also tend to be more waterproof and weather-resistant, while soft case luggage are more prone to stains. Both come with its set of pros and cons, so it all comes down to your specific needs and preferences:

  • Secure locks and zippers

Don’t let your guard down! Be sure to lock your luggage before checking it in, in case it ends up in the wrong hands. While you can buy a separate luggage lock, many of the best luggage brands in Singapore often have models that come with built-in, TSA-approved combination or key locks. These locks allow airport security to open your bag with a master key if needed, without damaging it. Apart from locks, also look out for double-coiled zips, which are much harder to tamper with.

  • Smooth spinners

For smooth manoeuvring, get four-wheeled luggage (often named as spinners) which are highly versatile. You don’t have to tilt it to an angle and pull, but simply drag it parallel to the ground. However, these wheels do take up space. If you’re travelling via bus or trains and want to avoid not being able to fit your bag in overhead luggage bins, you can opt for luggage with recessed wheels.

  • Flexible warranty on parts

When shopping for luggage, always take a moment to check the brand’s warranty policy before you buy. Some of the best luggage brands in Singapore offer a lifetime warranty against regular wear and tear, saving you the hassle of replacing your suitcase every time a wheel gives out! It’s also a good sign that the materials used are high quality, meaning your luggage can stay by your side for many years, and across multiple trips!
