Sing Your Hearts Out At These 13 Best Karaoke Bars

Karaoke is the quintessential Asian pastime. Whether with colleagues, friends or family, a good karaoke session always promises to be cathartic. But while singing karaoke is a timeless activity, we’re aware that it might not be the case for those who’ve been scarred by the endless melodramatic mandopop playlist or tone-deaf microphone hoggers. Worse still if the system doesn’t have that one track you always rely on! To spice up your karaoke experience, we’ve carefully curated a list of the best karaoke spots in Singapore!

Family karaoke vs KTV bars

There are a wide variety of karaoke, or more simply KTV venues in Singapore. These 2 terms, “karaoke” and “KTV” are used rather interchangeably because they both have similar meanings. The word “KTV” simply means “karaoke television”. While we all know that karaoke involves singing along to music, the television part is where your lyrics are located on a screen so that you can keep up with the song.

Broadly speaking, there are family karaoke spots and karaoke bars. Family karaoke lounges may not serve alcohol and have simple room and package options to choose from, making them ideal to enjoy with family. Karaoke bars, as the name suggests, serve alcohol and often have more fancy room options to entertain guests and friends.

Best karaoke spots in Singapore

1. Teo Heng KTV

The classic KTV experience

Don’t we all have memories here? A household name among karaoke fans, there’s a reason why Teo Heng KTV is one of the best family karaoke venues in Singapore. With no hidden costs, the option to bring in your food and drinks, and a robust sound system, it’s the go-to choice for a simple karaoke session! Teo Heng also offers a wide karaoke song selection, ranging from upbeat kids’ songs to K-pop and even the latest Mandopop songs. Their room selection is ideal for small, casual gatherings, accommodating anywhere from couples to groups of 10. And as an alcohol-free venue with reasonable rates, Teo Heng is ideal for families with kids as well!

Our review: “Teo Heng is my go-to spot because of its super affordable pricing, though booking a slot can be a bit tricky. The sound system is decent, and while the space is on the smaller side, it’s cosy enough. They also have percussion instruments available, so we can jam along and support our friend while she sings. I love that they practise good hygiene here, especially with disposable mic wrappers provided for the mics! But I love how they’ve finally updated their song system; you can even add songs to the list via your phone now, so convenient and easy!”

Looking to reminisce on the good old days? Cash Studio Family Karaoke is filled with plenty of retro-themed decorations to transport customers back to the golden age of karaoke! But more than visuals alone, this place stands out from other karaoke spots in Singapore by using the Daiichi Kosho Amusement Multimedia audio system. Popular during the 1970s, this karaoke system is renowned for its raw sound quality and a staggering variety of Japanese songs to choose from, ranging anywhere from J-pop to J-rock! It’s why all my Japanese-loving friends come back to Cash Studio time and time again.

Our review: “The sound system was excellent, offering a huge song selection and easy-to-use controls. The rooms were clean, spacious, and had great lighting effects. The staff was also very friendly, making sure everything was in order before leaving us to enjoy our KTV session. And though it’s pricey, the snacks were pretty decent.”

The lighting was perfectly set, and the microphone worked flawlessly, enhancing our experience. Additionally, the staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming, providing a thorough introduction once they learned it was our first visit. Overall, a fantastic experience that I would definitely recommend!”

A fantastic spot for any celebration!”

Our review: “Located conveniently on the 5th floor of Orchard Central, this place is easy to find. Most bang for your buck

Admittedly, karaoke sessions can get expensive, especially when some karaoke places in Singapore pile on extra charges and pricey food and drinks. With 3-hour packages starting from $12, Jewel Music Box is one of the best karaoke choices in Singapore for budget-constrained individuals! Managed by Ten Dollar Club, this KTV spot also includes free-flow soft drinks and snacks so you can keep yourself hydrated before belting to your next song. Jewel Music Box also has dart machines and a pool table where you can challenge your friends if you get bored of singing. And for our friends who would rather not take the commute to town, they’ll be happy to know that Jewel Music Box has convenient locations around heartland areas like Pasir Ris and Punggol.

Our review: “The staff was very patient in explaining the fees and timings. When we encountered issues with the microphones, they responded quickly and resolved the problem right away. The environment was cosy and clean, making it a great spot to enjoy KTV with friends and family.”

(Credit: Candy K Bar / Facebook)

Candy K Bar offers an impressive set of 18 themed rooms, from UK-themed karaoke rooms to flashy vaporwave-inspired vibes. These rooms are sized for groups of all sizes, from small groups of friends to huge parties and corporate events, and are equipped with all the latest hits! We’ve noted that customers keep coming back to the candy-themed large rooms, which have hues of pink and bubblegum that make them a perfect place for those hen’s nights. But if you’re feeling up to splurging for that special event, the huge VIP karaoke room at Candy K Bar will keep your guests thoroughly occupied with the dart machine and foosball table before they get back to belting those tunes again!

Our review: “I liked that the price paid includes a free drink for both me and my friends. The snacks here were also quite tasty. One of the main highlights was the multitude of rooms, each designed in a slightly different way, offering a variety of experiences. However, one thing that didn’t sit well with some of my friends was having to use WeChat to scan the QR code and book songs — it felt a bit of a hassle.”

(Credit: RAVE Karaoke)

One of the newer kids on the block, RAVE Karaoke promises the closest thing to an actual rave – bright neon lights, music, and a wide selection of drinks! True to their name, reviewers always seem to mention the full-sounding sound system that fills the room at RAVE. If the pop art decor isn’t enough, what sets them apart is that RAVE is a modern karaoke outlet in every sense of the word, featuring a wide song library in several languages, and a convenient song selection system that can be accessed from your phone. No more fiddling with control panels!

Our review: “Hands down one of my top KTV spots! We loved the spacious room, which also offers other activities to enjoy when you need a break from singing after belting out those high notes. Get on the Grid!

(Credit: ZPLUS KTV / Facebook)

If, somehow, the flashy lights of all the karaoke options in Singapore aren’t enough for you, and you demand brighter, flashier and sleeker, head to ZPLUS KTV. This TRON-themed KTV venue promises to transport you to a different world with its cyberpunk futurist-style decor – they’ve even gone as far as to place an iconic Lightcycle replica in the lobby! (Sadly, you can’t ride it.) Their German sound system creates the stage for their selection of songs, especially their huge range of Mandopop and Chinese songs. If you plan to have an extended karaoke marathon, they offer a discount for their 3-hour package slots (rather than the usual rate per hour).

Our review: “It’s clean and comfortable, and the best part for us is that we can control the temperature ourselves — so we can easily turn it up if we’re feeling cold. The lights are adjustable too, with ambient lighting to match our mood. Plus, the song selection is perfect for us — we can find everything from K-pop hits to Mandopop, English songs, and even dialect tunes!”

For all the oppas and noonas out there

(Credit: 82 SocialHouse / Facebook)

If you remember Voicebooth KTV back in the day, you’ll be happy to know that they’re now at 82 SocialHouse! They’ve been rebranded to become Kommune and continues to boast its impressive array of Korean karaoke songs in Singapore. Started by a Korean husband-Singaporean wife duo, Kommune is committed to authenticity, to our knowledge being one of the only karaoke spots in Singapore to feature an authentic Korean TJ Media sound system. That means that the KTV experience and accompaniment are exactly like what you would find in Seoul! Even the pool table is equipped with a unique Korean 4-ball pool – perfect for those of us committed to the Hallyu. But that’s not all, as Kommune is decked out with PS5 console games, computer games like Valorant and Fortnite, and board games. If you’re getting hungry and thirsty, hop on over to the Korean-fusion gastro bar Tigress next door.

Our review: “We tried the Korean karaoke (a cosy room for 2), and it was overall a fun experience! While we had a bit of trouble getting the hang of the controls at first, everything worked out, and the sound was great. I’d definitely recommend this to anyone curious about an authentic noraebang experience but can’t make it to Korea just yet!”
