1. Soft, Fluffy White Bread

Breadmaking is usually seen as a challenge, what with all that kneading and proofing but your rice cooker is here to save the day. While we recommend using a rice cooker with a baking function, you can also use a standard rice cooker (though this will require a longer cook time). Bonus: this easy rice cooker recipe in Singapore doesn’t use any eggs, milk or butter, which makes it perfect for vegans too!

  • 30g sugar
  • 4g yeast

  2. In a large bowl, pour the yeast mixture into bread flour (available on Shopee Supermarket) and stir to mix until a rough dough forms
  3. Turn out onto a work surface and knead vegetable oil (available on Shopee Supermarket) into the dough, bit by bit at a time

  5. Shape the dough into a smooth ball and let rise in a covered bowl for 45 minutes or until double in size
  6. Sprinkle some flour on the dough, deflate it and turn it out onto a work surface. Knead into a long cylinder.
  7. Divide the dough into 12 equal pieces and shape into individual balls
  8. Place the dough balls side by side in your oiled rice cooker pot, then close and let rise for another 30 minutes till they double in size. Make sure your rice cooker is switched off!
