Best frozen Chinese dumplings in Singapore

1. Tian Tian Chinese Dumplings

(Credit: TIAN TIAN Official Store)

Starting off the list is Tian Tian, a homegrown brand known for its premium dumplings and wontons. Known for their elastic, bouncy skin and juicy filling, it’s a staple dumpling brand in most Singaporean homes – including mine! Tian Tian dumplings are great for New Year steamboats and noodle soup, as they’re not overly salty. I highly recommend stocking up on their classic Cabbage and Pork Chinese Dumplings, made with fairly lean yet tender pork and fresh vegetables

For pan-fried dumplings though, I recommend their Chives and Pork Chinese Dumplings instead, for that sharp flavour of chives that balances out the umami taste of pork. Their dumplings are made without preservatives too, so I don’t feel bad serving them to my parents or to guests!

2. HKZ Dim Sum Chives Dumplings

For dumplings with a Cantonese twist, fry up some handmade Chives Dumplings from Hong Kong Zhai Dim Sum. These dumplings only take five minutes to cook, so they’re ready to serve on the table in just a few minutes! My colleague always has a stock of these HKZ dumplings in her freezer for a quick dinner after work, and they’re so good that she serves them during their holiday dinners too.

These dumplings are best eaten with some fragrant chilli oil for a spicy kick with each mouthful. You can complete your meal with some dim sum favourites too, like sharks fin dumplings, siew mai, salted egg yolk buns, and more!

3. Swee Choon Chinese Dumplings

Swee Choon, known for having some of the best xiao long bao in Singapore, has its own line of frozen Chinese dumplings that you can steam at home for restaurant-style dumplings! Dubbed as Peking Dumplings, these Swee Choon dumplings use ground pork instead of minced pork to give them a lean and consistent bite. Its fragrant skin has an almost QQ texture, and its filling takes on the aromas of garlic and spring onion for an extra-premium flavour. How swee does that sound?

Fish in a dumpling? Yes, please! This classic steamboat ingredient is a favourite in our household, as these dumplings have a mild flavour and soft surimi paste that both kids and adults enjoy. BoBo Fish Dumplings is our preferred choice as they offer some of the best fish products too. These dumplings are best served with a broth like in a hotpot or noodle soup, as you get a chewy fish dumpling with a consistency similar to those of the famous BoBo fishballs

I prefer my dumplings with a soft, chewy skin and a flavourful filling that isn’t too salty. And these Handmade Fish Dumplings from Ming Fa hit all the right criteria. The skin is made with fish paste as well, giving it the perfect texture I really love. It even contains a juicy pork filling that doesn’t have any preservatives. The Yongle Shrimp Dumplings might be some of the best frozen shrimp dumplings that replicate those you can find in Shandong, China. The highlight of these Yongle dumplings lies in their delectable dumpling skin made with natural wheat flour, which gives these dumplings a unique aroma and texture. The wheat skin also helps reduce the likelihood of dumplings breaking when they’re being boiled in steamboat broths. My colleague is a huge fan of these dumplings, made with crisp shrimp, fresh cucumbers, and egg. She recommends trying them deep-fried as the crunchy skin pairs well with the juicy filling.
