11 Things You Can Get For Free In Singapore

Living in the world’s most expensive city, nothing feels better than getting something for free here in sunny Singapore. Whether you’re a yogi or a foodie, we have all kinds of lobang that will make Singapore truly feel like home.

And if you don’t mind spending a little, you might want to check out these amazing deals that are happening during Shopee’s National Day Sale from now till 9 Aug.

1. $100 ActiveSG credits

ActiveSG
(ActiveSG)

For all gym buffs out there, this one’s for you. Singaporeans and Singapore PRs above 12 years old are entitled to $100 ActiveSG credits which gives you access to gyms, public pools and other sports facilities all over Singapore. Not only that, you can also go for complimentary trial classes and members-only events which includes Piloxing, Aqua Spinning and many more.

2. Workout classes via Healthy 365

Boulder Studio
(Boulder Studio)

If you’re not willing to spend on fitness passes such as Classpass and KFit, we recommend downloading the Healthy 365 App by the Health Promotion Board. You can sign up for classes by popular gyms and studios such Fitness First, Platinum Yoga and Boulder Studio without paying a cent. But be sure to keep a lookout as classes are limited and they fill up fast!

3. Learn a new sport

People's Association
(People’s Association)

Always wanted to learn a new sport? Whether it’s something like Badminton or Tennis, People’s Association lets you join a sports club for free with like-minded Singaporeans. They offer a wide range of sports such as badminton, soccer and frisbee. If you’re looking for more excitement, People’s Association also organises sports carnivals and competitions to satisfy your competitive soul.

4. Lifelong learning with SkillsFuture

Skills Future

For those looking to learn a new skill, the government has got you covered. All Singaporeans 25 years old have an opening credit of $500 which can be used to attend a wide variety of courses. From personal development to landscaping, coupled with periodic top-ups, the learning never stops.

5. Entry to Singapore Zoo

Singapore Zoo
(Singapore zoo)

If you’re an animal-lover, there’s no better way to spend your birthday than going to Singapore Zoo. For every accompanying paying guest, the birthday celebrant will be entitled to a free ticket. What’s more, you also have free entry to River Safari, Jurong Bird Park and Night Safari! Singapore residents can also enjoy up to 15% off discounts when they buy their ticket online.

6. Entry to museums

National Museum of Singapore
(National Museum of Singapore)

If you’re craving a dose of art and culture, why not visit one of the many museums in Singapore? All Singaporeans and Singapore PRs can visit a total of 8 museums for free so you can go museum-hopping all-year round. We recommend visiting the immersive installations from Story of the Forest at the National Museum of Singapore or the magical installations from the Gallery Children’s Biennale at the National Gallery.

7. Entry to Istana

Istana
(Istana)

Did you know that the Istana is only open to the public 6 times a year?

  1. Chinese New Year (2nd Day) – 6 February 2019
  2. Labour Day (Actual Day) – 1 May 2019
  3. Hari Raya Puasa (Actual Day) – 5 June 2019
  4. National Day – 28 July 2019
  5. Istana 150 Commemorative Event – 6 October 2019
  6. Deepavali (Actual Day) – 27 October 2019

Don’t miss your chance to visit the Istana because entry is free for all Singaporeans and Singapore PR. Explore the Istana’s main building via guided tours, or enjoy a variety of performances held on the Istana grounds. If you love nature, you can also participate in the Nature Guided Walks, where you can enjoy and learn all about the rich flora and fauna on the grounds.

8. Workshops at Apple

Apple

Free Wifi
(Today Online)

Besides being one of the top few countries with the fastest WiFi, Singaporeans are also blessed with over 5,000 free WiFi spots spread all over Singapore. This includes MRT stations, libraries, shopping malls and many more. Simply download the Wireless@SG App, set it up with your identification and mobile numbers and you’re all set! If your phone’s out of space, you can also connect manually via your phone’s settings. Simply key in your mobile phone number and you’re ready to start surfing.

10. Free shopping

Singapore Really Really Free Market

Started in 2009, the Singapore Really Really Free Market (SRRFM) is a flea market concept that is completely free. You can find a wide variety of items ranging from books to clothes. You can follow them on Facebook to stay updated on all the latest sessions.

11. Free Parking

Free Parking
(Dollar and Sense)

With the cost of fuel, COE and ERP, driving in Singapore can be very expensive so you’ll be happy to know that many places in Singapore actually have free parking. Some places such as Labrador Nature Reserve and Dempsey Hill are more generous, offering free parking all day.

Besides these free perks, you can also check out these really free things to do in Singapore on the weekends or, both free and paid things to do in Sentosa over the weekend. Do you have any other good lobangs to share? Comment them down below~
