With the school holidays fast approaching, it is the best time to unwind and enjoy a day out. But if you’ve already been to most tourist attractions in Singapore, it can be a hard time finding somewhere exciting to go. Thankfully, we’ve got a brilliant suggestion for you: Sentosa Island! From having a splashing time in the water to flying up high in the sky, there are plenty of Sentosa attractions and activities to try. Here’s our roundup of the many fun things to do in Sentosa!
Sentosa Island is located off the southern coast of Singapore’s main island. Formerly a British military base and a Japanese prisoner-of-war camp, the island has since become a popular tourist destination over the years. Today, Sentosa is home to many fun attractions including two golf courses, three beaches, 14 hotels and Resorts World Sentosa.
There are many different ways to enter Sentosa, and the good news is: some of them are free of charge!
Firstly, you can travel to Sentosa Island on foot via the Sentosa Boardwalk. Starting from VivoCity Shopping Mall’s waterfront promenade, the boardwalk has two-way canopy-covered travelators to protect you from the sun and rain.
You can also enter Sentosa Island by driving in via the gateway. The entry fee per vehicle is $2 during off-peak hours and $6 during peak hours. Additional car park charges start from $1.20 per hour from 7am to 5pm and $2.40 per entry from 5pm.
The nearest MRT station to Sentosa Island is Harbourfront MRT which is connected via the North-East Line and Circle Line. From there, you can enter VivoCity and proceed to the 3rd level to take the Sentosa Express monorail to get to the island. The monorail runs daily from 7am to 12am and admission is free.
There are plenty of bus services from multiple points of mainland Singapore that can get you to the VivoCity bus stop where you can proceed to walk or take the monorail. Only bus service 123 brings you directly into the island.
With so many things to do in Sentosa, we don’t blame you if you need more than a day on the island. With that said, there is no hard and fast rule over how long you should spend on the island. Some choose to go there just to do one activity while others prefer to pack their day by visiting many attractions. Do note that while the island is open 24/7, the monorail and shuttle buses end service at midnight. So if you’re planning to stay on the island till late, do ensure you are driving in or have booked an overnight stay at one of the hotels there.

Get ready to climb, slide, leap and bounce your way through HydroDash! As Singapore’s very first floating aqua park, there are four play zones made of inflatable floats where you challenge your friends to obstacle courses. But be careful!
