It’s not just about concerts put up by your favourite artistes; there’s more to watch and see in Singapore! Musical and theatre productions are unique alternatives to your usual date nights and family days. And with so many popular Broadway shows coming to Singapore in 2025, you’d best secure whatever tickets you can while they’re here! Who knows if or when they’ll ever return?
Upcoming musicals and theatre shows in Singapore (2025)
1. Swan Lake – State Ballet of Georgia
11 – 14 September 2025

My only exposure to Swan Lake is through watching Barbie of Swan Lake. Despite being an animation, I was still entranced by the music and Barbie dancing ballet. But apparently, the show was actually choreographed by actual ballet dancers in the New York City Ballet. Their movement was also animated through motion capture imaging! So when I did a search on Swan Lake, I was glad that the music, for one, is legit and that the ballet routine in the Barbie movie was about the same too.
With almost 180 years of history and tradition, The State Ballet of Georgia will finally be debuting in Singapore with this classic ballet production. And as they’ve always been known for their magnificent productions, lovers of ballet, music and everything classic, will no doubt be entranced by their performance of Swan Lake. Especially since the former prima ballerina of the prominent Bolshoi Ballet and current director of The State Ballet of Georgia says Swan Lake is “one of [their] best repertoires”, let their exquisite costumes, ornaments and choreography astound you with a night you won’t forget.

2. Dear Evan Hansen
1 – 15 November 2025
Last year, I was lucky enough to score free tickets to Dear Evan Hansen when it came to Singapore — and I’m so glad I went. This musical doesn’t follow the typical uplifting Broadway formula. Instead, it delivers an emotionally intense, honest look at teenage life, anxiety, loneliness, and the desperate desire to be seen.
The story follows Evan, a socially anxious high school student who unintentionally becomes the centre of a tragedy involving a classmate’s death. When a letter he wrote to himself is mistaken for a suicide note, Evan gets caught in a web of lies. What begins as a small act of comfort spirals into something much larger and more complicated.

3. Disney’s Beauty And The Beast
11 December 2025 – 4 January 2026

This one’s a dream come true for me. Beauty and the Beast has been my favourite fairytale ever since I was a child. I’ve always loved the music, the romance, and the message that true beauty comes from within. The 2017 movie remake was a visual treat, but now that the full-scale musical is coming to Singapore as its only Asia stop, I am thrilled.
This new production promises everything we love about the Disney classic, with an added layer of theatrical magic. Audiences can expect stunning visual effects, breathtaking new sets, and dazzling costumes that bring the enchanted world of Belle and the Beast to life like never before. The iconic songs — “Be Our Guest,” “Gaston,” “Beauty and the Beast,” and more — will be performed live, backed by a full orchestra and spectacular choreography.

Les Misérables is already considered one of the greatest musicals of all time, but in 2026, it’s being reimagined on an epic scale for the Arena Spectacular World Tour. This new production transforms the classic into a large-scale, immersive experience with huge sets, full orchestras, and dynamic visuals designed to fill an arena.
If you’ve seen Les Mis before, you’ll still be blown away. If this is your first time, it’s one of the most gripping and emotional stories you’ll ever watch. Set in 19th-century France, the story follows former convict Jean Valjean as he tries to rebuild his life while being relentlessly pursued by Inspector Javert. 7. The Serangoon Gardens Techno Party of 1993 – Retro Rebellions
17 October – 1 November 2025

This isn’t a musical (it’s a straight play), but it’s one of the most buzzed-about Singapore theatre shows this year for its edgy theme. Written by Joel Tan, The Serangoon Gardens Techno Party of 1993 is set in mid-’90s Singapore during an era of moral panic over “uncouth” youth culture. The story follows Candice, a teenager whose mom has just torched her stash of contraband mixtapes and music magazines, so Candice sneaks out on an overnight adventure into the city’s underground rave scene.
Techno Party is poised to be “punchy, unhinged, and pulsing with youthful anger,” exploring one young woman’s rebellion against conservative norms. If you grew up in the 90s, or are simply fascinated by that era of Singapore history, this play will be a nostalgic trip filled with techno music and teenage angst.

Musicals and theatre shows you have missed (2025)
Sunset Boulevard
7 – 23 February 2025

With music by Andrew Lloyd Webber, you know this is a classic. But that’s not the only reason why many are turning up for Sunset Boulevard. There’s also… Sarah Brightman. Whether you’re in the scene or not, that name should ring a bell. Originating the role of Christine Daaé from Phantom of the Opera, Brightman is no doubt a soprano to be reckoned with.
This time, Brightman is starring as Norma Desmond, a film star who’s faded out of the spotlight and now longs to make a big comeback. She meets Joe Gillis, a young screenwriter, who she sees as her potential key to return to the game, bigger than ever. Sunset Boulevard will follow the two as they navigate the ups and downs, the highs and lows, and many more milestones in their relationship. Let Brightman serenade you with her goosebump-inducing vocals as she performs hits like With One Look and As If We Never Said Goodbye.

WICKED The Musical
19 March – 27 April 2025

I caught WICKED the last time it was here. I wasn’t into the whole Wizard of Oz thing but my friend convinced me that it was a must-watch. Granted, admission was free for me too (hehe). But I was really enchanted by the musical – the songs and lyrics, costumes, dances and everything was simply magical.
It’s no wonder the musical has won over 100 major awards, and that includes three Tony awards and a Grammy! Let’s not forget that there’s also been a tear-jerking movie with a part two on the way! But I say hearing the cast sing the songs live in a theatre is something so unique; you can’t substitute it for anything else.
Ticket price: $83 – $263

Sat: 2pm & 8pm
Sun: 1pm & 6pm
Duration: 165 minutes (with 15 mins intermission)

Phantom Of The Opera
9 May – 1 June 2025

You can’t not know about Phantom Of The Opera. It’s too much of a classic – not knowing it is akin to being unaware of your national anthem. I was first exposed to the musical thanks to my mum’s love for it. But being in the school choir also meant that I was going to be singing some of the songs. So when I found out about the special airing of the 25th anniversary recording during the coronavirus outbreak in 2020, I made sure I set all the reminders and alarms for it.
I was in awe, astounded by Sierra Boggess and Ramin Karimloo. And I knew that one day, if or when the musical comes by, I was going for it regardless of ticket prices. The day came, and my tickets have been secured. It may be my second musical of 2025, but you can’t excuse yourself when it’s a Broadway legend – the longest-running show in Broadway history! They were last here in 2013 and 2019, seemingly a six-year gap in terms of frequency. But let’s not bet on it, why not just go this year and go again six years later? You won’t regret it!
Ticket price: $88 – $288

Tue – Fri: 8pm
Sat: 2pm & 8pm
Sun: 1pm & 6.30pm
Duration: 150 minutes (with 15 mins intermission)
