18. Shinji by Kanesaka (St. Regis)
From $150/person for lunch
Shinji by Kanesaka is an omakase restaurant that my colleague says is the closest you can get to sushi in Japan, praising the freshness and clean taste of each dish without being too jelak. In fact, it’s so good that she makes it a point to treat herself to their omakase meal once a year, where “even the fruits they serve at the end of some omakase sets are flown in from Japan – the melon is to-die-for!” she says.
So, if you’re craving a different kind of omakase experience, head to Shinji by Kanesaka. At $150 for a lunch set, you get a bit of everything from anago to ootoro for a good variety of dishes with new and exciting flavours to explore! And don’t forget the sea salt ice cream – it’s served between rice crackers and is the perfect palate cleanser to end your meal on a sweet note!
Note: We haven’t had the chance to visit the outlet at Carlton Hotel, but if you do go over, do note that there may be a different set of options, especially the Hana (9-piece sushi course set) that’s going at $100.
