Upcoming musicals and theatre shows in Singapore (2025)
1. Sunset Boulevard
7 – 23 February 2025
With music by Andrew Lloyd Webber, you know this is a classic. But that’s not the only reason why many are turning up for Sunset Boulevard. There’s also… Sarah Brightman. Whether you’re in the scene or not, that name should ring a bell. Originating the role of Christine Daaé from Phantom of the Opera, Brightman is no doubt a soprano to be reckoned with.
This time, Brightman is starring as Norma Desmond, a film star who’s faded out of the spotlight and now longs to make a big comeback. She meets Joe Gillis, a young screenwriter, who she sees as her potential key to return to the game, bigger than ever. Sunset Boulevard will follow the two as they navigate the ups and downs, the highs and lows, and many more milestones in their relationship. Let Brightman serenade you with her goosebump-inducing vocals as she performs hits like With One Look and As If We Never Said Goodbye.

2. WICKED The Musical
19 March – 27 April 2025
I caught WICKED the last time it was here. I wasn’t into the whole Wizard of Oz thing but my friend convinced me that it was a must-watch. Granted, admission was free for me too (hehe). But I was really enchanted by the musical – the songs and lyrics, costumes, dances and everything was simply magical.
It’s no wonder the musical has won over 100 major awards, and that includes three Tony awards and a Grammy! Let’s not forget that there’s also been a tear-jerking movie with a part two on the way! But I say hearing the cast sing the songs live in a theatre is something so unique; you can’t substitute it for anything else.

3. Phantom Of The Opera
9 May – 1 June 2025
You can’t not know about Phantom Of The Opera. It’s too much of a classic – not knowing it is akin to being unaware of your national anthem. I was first exposed to the musical thanks to my mum’s love for it. But being in the school choir also meant that I was going to be singing some of the songs sooner or later. So when I found out about the special airing of the 25th anniversary recording during the coronavirus outbreak in 2020, I made sure I set all the reminders and alarms for it.
I was in awe, astounded by Sierra Boggess and Ramin Karimloo. And I knew that one day, if or when the musical comes by, I was going for it regardless of ticket prices. The day came, and my tickets have been secured. It may be my second musical of 2025, but you can’t excuse yourself when it’s a Broadway legend – the longest-running show in Broadway history! They were last here in 2013 and 2019, seemingly a six-year gap in terms of frequency. But let’s not bet on it, why not just go this year and go again six years later? You won’t regret it!
Ticket price: $88 – $288
Show days and timings:
Tue – Fri: 8pm
Sat: 2pm & 8pm
Sun: 1pm & 6.30pm
Duration: 150 minutes (with 15 mins intermission)

4. The Lord Of The Rings – A Musical Tale

Your precious is finally here. The Lord Of The Rings – A Musical Tale is the kind of production all we Middle-earth fans will love. I’m sure we’ve all been waiting much too long, so bide your time and be patient. In August, we’ll have The Lord Of The Rings – A Musical Tale as its premieres in Asia!
Based on the trilogy, this musical is suitable even for those who haven’t read or watched LOTR. Think of it as a quick rundown of the lore as storytelling and singing come together in a fantastical night.

Tue – Fri: 8pm
Sat: 2pm & 8pm
Sun: 1pm & 6.30pm

5. Swan Lake – State Ballet of Georgia
11 – 14 September 2025
My only exposure to Swan Lake is through watching Barbie of Swan Lake. Despite being an animation, I was still entranced by the music and Barbie dancing ballet. But apparently, the show was actually choreographed by actual ballet dancers in the New York City Ballet. Their movement was also animated through motion capture imaging! So when I did a search on Swan Lake, I was glad that the music, for one, is legit and that the ballet routine in the Barbie movie was about the same too.
With almost 180 years of history and tradition, The State Ballet of Georgia will finally be debuting in Singapore with this classic ballet production. And as they’ve always been known for their magnificent productions, lovers of ballet, music and everything classic, will no doubt be entranced by their performance of Swan Lake. Especially since the former prima ballerina of the prominent Bolshoi Ballet and current director of The State Ballet of Georgia says Swan Lake is “one of [their] best repertoires”, let their exquisite costumes, ornaments and choreography astound you with a night you won’t forget.
Ticket price: $68 – $198 (excluding booking fees)
Show days and timings:
Thur – Sat: 7.30pm
Sun: 1pm & 6.30pm
Duration: 135 minutes (with 20 mins intermission)

6. See You, Anniversary
14 – 23 February 2025
You’re assured that Broadway musicals are good. But what about… basically everything else? If you’re the kind that’s always on the fence when it comes to these things, then rest assured See You, Anniversary has gotten their stamp of approval. As usual, Nine Years Theatre has done it again with productions that remind us how precious human connections are. And with 13 sold-out shows in 2022, this Mandarin production is back with a hard-hitting, all-too-relatable story.
Reflect on the last 29 years with Kelvin and Annie, as they reminisce about when they first met, when they fell in love, their marriage, all the way to now. Every year without fail, that’s what they do to maintain their relationship as they celebrate their anniversary. But sometimes, life happens and nostalgia becomes a long-lost memory. Will they bounce back from this? And if so, how will they do it?
Ticket price: $48 – $88

Tue – Fri: 8pm
Sat: 3pm & 8pm
Sun: 3pm
Duration: 80 minutes

7. The Last Five Years by Jason Robert Brown
12 February – 1 March 2025
He said, she said. That’s how it is when it comes to relationships, but there’s always two sides to the coin. I’m a sucker for stories about love and romance, especially the really gut-wrenching, heartbreaking ones. And I feel like I just might catch this.
In The Last Five Years, Jamie and Cathy are troubled by a new set of problems. Once a force to be reckoned with, brought together by their common goals, they must now determine how they can mature in their relationship. Jamie, played by Nathan Hartono, and Cathy, played by Inch Chua, have to navigate the new, unexplored terrains of their marriage. And in the meantime, you’ll be treated to their absolutely powerful vocals as almost the entire show is performed through an amazing score by Tony Award winner Jason Robert Brown. Trust that every word and every tune will strike a chord in your heart. You’ll definitely need some tissue for this.
Ticket price: $78 – $168
Show days and timings:
Tue – Fri: 7:30pm
Sat: 3pm & 7:30pm
Sun: 2pm & 6pm

8. Threads: The Emperor’s New Clothes Musical
From 8 March 2025
We should all be familiar with the classics by Hans Christian Andersen. But it’s not often we get to see a theatre production of such tales. The most remarkable one thus far would be The Little Mermaid renditions. But in 2025, Singapore Repertory Theatre is featuring Threads: The Emperor’s New Clothes Musical.
Situated in the 90s, watch Millie, a young and ambitious fashion designer, as her goals are threatened by Arnold Wintor, a prominent editor of Emperor Magazine. He always gets his way, so there’s no way he’s letting Millie run her unique fashion label, Threads, with ease. Will she be able to escape his clutches or will her nimble-mindedness allow her to have the last laugh. And will there be a clothes-less Wintor? Bring your entire fam to the musical to find out!
Ticket price: $27 – $50
Show days and timings:
Mon – Fri: 9:30am & 11:30am
Sat – Sun: 11am & 2pm
Duration: 50 minutes
Venue: KC Arts Centre – Home of SRT, 20 Merbau Road, S(239035)
9. Red Riding Hood
6 – 16 March 2025
I always love when prominent stories take on a local twist. I mean, who wouldn’t enjoy fairytales with some Singaporean flavour imbued? This time, it’s all about Little Red Riding Hood.
We all know she’s about to visit her grandma, but instead of a woven basket of food, it’s a little tingkat. And instead of a forest, Little Red is venturing through Woodlands as the Big Bad Wolf approaches her. Apparently, the Wolf is also trying their luck with grandma. So who knows what’s going to happen? Is grandma all right? It’s all part of great family fun with the little ones as local flavour comes together with original songs in this upcoming production!
Ticket price: $35 – $45
Show days and timings:
Sat – Sun: 11am & 3pm
Duration: 50 minutes
Venue: Wild Rice @ Funan, 107 North Bridge Road, #04-08, S(179105)
