New York isn’t the only place where all the good bagels are. You see, the bagel scene in Singapore also has some seriously impressive contenders. Originating in the Jewish communities in Poland, this ring-shaped bread roll has made rounds (pun unintended) all over the world and captured the hearts of many. Hence, if you find yourself also salivating for these juicy rolls, here are the best bagel places in Singapore to scratch that itch.

Where to get the best bagels in Singapore

1. Beigelhaus

Sinful, delicious bagels with quirky celebrity-inspired names.

Situated at the heart of the Central Business District, this halal-friendly cafe is known for putting punny names on the menu (Case in point: Egg Sheeran) and, of course, their indulgent and hearty bagels that we can’t get enough of. Their Kombu Butter series, such as the Egg-Ward Cullen and Scarlett Jo-Hammson, is a must-try and my absolute guilty pleasure: For just $8.90, you get a hot, fresh and utterly heavenly bagelwich packed full of ingredients soaked in a generous spread of butter. Each bite into the rich, buttery bagels is bursting with flavour, guaranteeing maximum satisfaction.

2. Keen’s Bagelry

Japanese-style bagel spot with the creamiest scrambled eggs.

This Japanese-inspired bagel shop serves delicious premium bagels alongside fluffy Hokkaido milk scrambled eggs and cosy Studio Ghibli vibes, so what is not to love about Keen’s Bagelry? Tucked within the quarters of Asia Square, my friend and I took a while to locate their shop, so be prepared to take more turns than expected (Tip: Try to find Starbucks first). The queue time during lunch was quite long, but rest assured that their yummy bagelwiches are worth the wait.

I highly recommend trying something with their signature scrambled eggs, such as the Bekki bagelwich ($14.50). The creamy eggs practically melt in your mouth and pair perfectly with the pork bacon.

    • Sat: 9.30 am – 3 pm
    • Sun: Closed
  • Address: 12 Marina View, #02-19/20 Asia Square Tower 2, S(018961)

3. Wooly’s Bagels

New York meets Singaporean cuisine in these delectable fusion bagelwiches

Have you ever tried otah with bagels? That’s an unconventional but genius combination that you have to try at Wooly’s Bagels. This Muslim-owned bagel cafe serves some of the most unique fusion flavours, where chewy New York-style bagels meet local cuisine. For instance, their Otah With Coconut Chilli Mayo Bagel ($17.00) offers thick otah slices and sunny-side-up eggs.  Slathered with creamy coconut lime mayonnaise, they pair surprisingly well with their fresh in-house bagels.

They also have more bagel options to choose from, such as Plain, Cheese, Garlic, Sesame, and Tuscan Pizza, so you can even customise your bagelwiches according to your taste. Personally, their cheese bagels are the cherry on top for me, rich in flavour without being jelak.

  • Opening hours: Daily, 10.30 am – 8.30 pm
  • Address:
    • 89 Rangoon Road, #01-03, S(218375)
    • 27 Arab Street, S(199726)
  • Halal certified? Yes.

4. Pawa Bakery

The perfect afternoon tea snack.

If you are looking for an afternoon tea snack instead of a heavy food coma-inducing meal, you have to try Pawa Bakery. Their bagels are priced from $3.80 and are light, fluffy and healthy, so you can grab a good bite without compromising your calorie goals and wallet. Their Purple Sweet Potato Bagel ($3.80) perfectly marries the fragrant sweet potato filling with the chewy dough. For a more savoury option, consider their Sausage Bagel ($3.80), which is basically an elevated version of a sausage bun. Just imagine: The juiciest sausage with impeccable Bratwurst-esque texture paired alongside their soft bagels. Simply irresistible!

  • Opening hours: Varies across outlets
  • Address: Multiple outlets
  • Halal certified? No.
  • Contact info: Official website, Instagram

5. Two Men Bagel House

Bagel powerhouse delivering the meatiest and juiciest bagelwiches.

Two Men Bagel House has been in the local bagel scene for a whopping 11 years, and one bite into their food is enough to tell you why. Take their signature Luxe bagel ($18.00) for instance, which features smoked salmon, scallion cream cheese, tomatoes, capers and vinaigrette. True to its name, this layering of flavours and textures provides a deluxe eating experience. Their bagels are the literal definition of heartiness, with their thick slices of perfectly-cooked meat smeared with their tangy in-house sauce; each bite is basically overflowing with meat juices.

  • Opening hours: Daily, 8 am – 3.30 pm
  • Address:
    • Holland Village: 17D Lor Liput, S(277731)
    • Tanjong Pagar: 16 Enggor Street, #01-12 Icon Village Altez, S(079717)
    • Novena: 103 Irrawaddy Road, #01-04 Royal Square, S(329566)

6. B for Bagel

Korean-style bakery that excels in both the sweet and the savoury.

Korean bakeries are honestly top-tier, so hearing that the famous Gangnam bakery B for Bagel will be coming to Singapore was music to my ears. Located in Tanglin Mall, this charming bakery offers a delightful mix of sweet and savoury options. You can never go wrong with their Bacon Cheese Omelette Sandwich ($14.50), where the creamy scrambled eggs and melty cheese make for a tantalising experience. Those with a sweet tooth should try out their dessert bagels, such as the Peach Cloud ($8.90), which is basically a bagel reimagining of the Japanese fruit sando!

  • Opening hours:
    • Mon – Fri: 8.30 am – 4.30 pm
    • Sat – Sun: 8.30 am – 7.30 pm
  • Address: Tanglin Mall, 163 Tanglin Road, #B1-125,126, S(247933)
  • Halal certified? No.
  • Contact info: Instagram

7. Whiskdom

Serves hearty bagels as tempting as their lava desserts.

Whiskdom’s name might ring a bell if you are a huge fan of lava cookies and brownies, but did you know that their bagel game is elite as well? Their bagels have a satisfying crunch on the outside while their interior stays soft and chewy. Besides their amazing quality, the portion size is humongous as well; Each bagel is loaded with ingredients and even comes with a side of tater tots to ensure that your bellies are filled and your hearts are content.

I love their Aloha Pulled Beef ($18.00), which is a tangy, plentiful mix of beef, pineapple and cabbage –An unlikely, yet phenomenal combination.

  • Opening hours: Varies across outlets
  • Address: Multiple outlets
  • Halal certified? No.
  • Contact info: Official website, Instagram, Facebook

8. ONALU Bagel Haús

A must-try downtown brunch spot.

A familiar name in the local bagel landscape, this bagel eatery is located within Singapore Management University, so I’ll be lying if I say that I am totally not jealous of SMU students for this one. Their menu offers an affordable range of sweet and savoury bagels starting from $5.50.

My friend has been raving about their Deviled Spam ($10.50), a decadent, gooey mix of spam, eggs and cheese stuffed within their freshly made New York-style bagels. Another crowd favourite is the Big Breakfast ($16.00), which basically features the best of an English Breakfast served between soft bagel buns.

  • Opening hours: Daily, 9.30 am – 5.45 pm
  • Address: 60 Stamford Road, #01-11, S(178900)
  • Halal certified? No.
  • Contact info: Official website, Instagram, Facebook

9. bag me up Bagel House

Cosy cafe spot with premium, halal-friendly food.

Tucked in the corner of an HDB void deck, this quaint minimalist-style bagel cafe offers affordable bagels with impeccable quality. The signature Can Trust Chick ($14.50), for example, is loaded with freshly-grilled teriyaki chicken, sauteed mushrooms, stretchy mozzarella cheese and aromatic truffle schmear.

They also offer light bites for just $6.50, which include sweeter options such as Biscoff Crunch. Although they are not halal certified, their ingredients do not contain pork or lard, so our Muslim friends can feel free to revel in these glorious bagels too.

  • Opening hours:
    • Mon: Closed
    • Tue, Sat – Sun: 9 am – 3.30 pm
    • Wed – Fri: 9.30 am – 5.45 pm
  • Address: 2 Everton Park, #01-59B, S(081002)
  • Halal certified? No, but Muslim-friendly.
  • Contact info: TikTok, Instagram, Facebook

10. Pancakes and Friends

Who says you have to burn a hole in your wallet for good bagels?

Bagels for less than $10 in the heart of Orchard? Sign me right up. Besides being known for their fluffy soufflé pancakes, Pancakes and Friends is one of the most economical bagel places in Singapore, and even if you top up some money for extra toppings, their total cost is comparatively lower than other brands.

The best part? They don’t skimp on the ingredients either. Their classic Salmon Cheese Bagel ($8.00) is filled with high-quality salmon alongside rich cream cheese and arugula, while their sweet options, such as the Nutella Strawberry Bagel ($7.00), do not go easy on the toppings either.

  • Opening hours: Daily, 10.30 am – 9.30 pm
  • Address: 14 Scotts Road, #01-34 Far East Plaza, S(228213)
  • Halal certified? No.
  • Contact info: Instagram

11. The Bagel Bunch

Thick, generous and often sells out by lunchtime.

Last but not least, The Bagel Bunch is a cosy takeout spot that brings thick bagels with fusion flavours to the heart of Buona Vista. Their bestselling Classic Breakfast ($9.90) delivers a hearty mix of bacon, egg, cheese and pickled red onions for less than $10. Although I usually avoid onions, their onions are surprisingly delicious, and I have no idea how they do it.

If you are trying their food out for the first time, you absolutely must pick the cheddar bagels, which add another layer of savouriness. One more thing: Try to place your orders early, as their bagels often sell out by lunchtime!

  • Opening hours:
    • Mon – Fri: 8 am – 4 pm
    • Sat – Sun: 9 am – 4 pm
  • Address: 9 North Buona Vista Drive, Tower 1, #01-01 The Metropolis, S(138588)
  • Halal certified? No.
  • Contact info: Official website, Instagram, TikTok
