Now, we have already covered what are some of the best casual shoes for men so that you guys can walk the talk, but have you ever wondered what are some of the sneakers you absolutely must get to stay in trend? Well, we’ve done the legwork for you and have rounded up some of the trendiest shoes of 2018/2019. And here’s the best thing – you can get them all on Shopee!
1. FILA DISRUPTOR II Leather Shoes ($268)
If you’re sick of basic white sneakers, you’ll want to give FILA’s update on the chunky ‘90s design of the original DISRUPTOR a go. Despite its chunky design, many users have commented that it gives a fun twist to any outfit, making your entire look more trendy and good. The thick soles of the DISRUPTOR II supposedly also add approximately at least two inches to anybody’s height as well *Yay*. Besides design, the FILA DISRUPTOR II is apparently very comfortable, light on the feet and durable. Some consumers have commented that they’ve been wearing them for months and the sneakers still hold up pretty well.
2. FILA Heritage Ray Prism ($80.99)
Here’s another ugly dad shoe that’s making waves in the sneaker community. Although it looks similar to the former FILA DISRUPTOR II, there are distinct differences between the two sneakers – the holographic pink streak that runs along the shoe and the smooth midsole that’s both present in the Heritage Ray Prism. This sneaker is also said to have a much more fashion-forward design with a raised midsole and less chunky sole, and like the DISRUPTOR II, many users have also commented that the Heritage Ray Prism is comfortable and light, making it easy on the feet.
If you’re not a fan of the holographic streak, you can opt for the plain-looking FILA RAY sneakers ($159).
3. adidas Yeezy Boost 700 “Inertia” ($500 – $575)
The Yeezy line needs no introduction but for our readers who are not sneakerheads, adidas Yeey is actually a collaboration between adidas and American rapper, Kanye West. The very first sneaker was released way back in 2015 and it has made waves in the sneaker community ever since. “Inertia” is part of the Yeezy Season 8 lineup that was launched back in March 2019, and this particular colorway includes the original 700 upper and is primarily in a cool grey tone, but with subtle orange for contrast. The familiar chunky midsole that is synonymous with most of the Yeezy Boost 700 line is also designed with a full-length Boost cushioning for extreme comfort.
4. adidas Yeezy Boost 700 “Mauve” ($460)
For a more sombre colour scheme, sneakerheads can consider getting the “Mauve” colorway instead. The shoe is designed primarily in brown with black and purplish grey across the upper. There are also hints of neon green that adds a splash of colour to the otherwise, dull-coloured Yeezy Boost 700. Like the “Inertia”, “Mauve” also has the same chunky midsole and is designed with Boost cushioning.
The adidas UltraBOOST 4.0 was released back in December 2018 and this pair of sneakers can be used not just as a fashion statement but also exercise. It is known for its highly versatile design and cool style, and unlike the usual chunky dad design, this pair has a very slim silhouette and is a proven style lifter. It is also designed with a full-length boost sole with Torsion system, giving you (literally) a boost in your step. One downside of this pair of sneakers? The casual look makes it difficult for any wearer to dress up with this.
6. Off-White x Nike Air Max 90 ($770 – $1,045)
One of the most sought after sneakers in the market right now, the Off-White x Nike Air Max 90 is essentially the birth child of one of the hottest design labels now and Nike’s most iconic silhouettes. Designed with Virgil Abloh’s signature Off-White hang-tag around the laces, this pair of sneakers is not to be trifled with. Originally launched as part of “THE TEN” collection, the “Desert Ore” and “Black/White” colour schemes are said to be one of the last from Abolh and Nike for a while, and is available in both adults and kids sizes.
7. Air Jordan 1 Low “Black Toe” ($195 – $235)
“There’s something familiar about this?” Well, if this is something that’s running through your head, you’re not wrong. The Air Jordan 1 Low “Black Toe” is a reimagined low-top version of the iconic Air Jordans by the Jordan Brand that was released in April 2019. While most of the original details are intact, there are a few tweaks in this new release. Instead of the usual standard black leather, white leather is used as the base and a combination of both red leather and black nubuck is used to provide accents. This is the perfect sneaker to get if you love to reminisce about the good ol’ days.
8. New Balance X-90 Reconstructed ($149)
Released earlier in January 2019, the New Balance X-90 Reconstructed comes in various colours (Grey and Purple) and offers a throwback silhouette with its chunky dad-style REVlite midsole unit. Despite the chunky and thick exterior, it is designed minimalistically, allowing you to pair the sneakers well with any outfit. Many users have also commented on the comfortable sole of the sneakers and surprisingly lightweight.
9. FILA VENOM 94 ($188)
Stemming from the classic 1994 FILA Shoes, the FILA VENOM 94 series is an improved version of the classic sneakers and is made of premium cow leather, making it extremely comfortable and soft. Besides this, the FILA classic soft capsule sole also allows for elasticity and flexibility so that the wearer can walk for long periods with reduced foot pressure.
Besides these sneakers, there are also other sneakers that have been released over the years and are still making heads turn today. Get your authentic sneakers over at these stores: FILA Official Store, New Balance Official Store, Original Fook, Sneakers Clinic, DistriSneaks.
