1. Tong Garden

Shop Now

As the proud overall winner of the Singapore Prestige Brand Award, Tong Garden is a local brand that has over 25 years of experience in its craft. Despite its long-standing history of producing nuts, this brand remains family-operated to uphold its commitment to responsibly produced snacks. Today, this brand has gone beyond its speciality of Tong Garden Salted Peanuts to manufacture other healthy tidbits, including various types of nuts.

The snacks are surprisingly addictive, and I find myself reaching out for them whenever I’m feeling peckish. If you’re looking for the best snacks for the kiddos, I’d recommend my personal favourites – the Tong Garden Party Snack or the Tong Garden NOI Potato Sticks.

2. Bee Cheng Hiang

Shop Now

Despite being founded in 1933, Bee Cheng Hiang remains one of the most popular brands for locals who wish to purchase barbecued pork jerky, commonly referred to as Bak Kwa. To provide customers with peace of mind, the brand crafts its Bak Kwa with natural ingredients to uphold its premium standards of appearance, flavour and aroma.

You’ll also be surprised to know that Bee Cheng Hiang’s Bak Kwa is carefully roasted over traditional bamboo sieves, so no two slices are the same! Hence, a box of Sliced Pork Bak Kwa makes for a delicious and thoughtful souvenir if you’re looking for the best snacks in Singapore to bring back for your overseas family and friends. If you’re looking for a garnish instead, get the Pork Floss to give your meals a little oomph. Thinking of getting a variety of brands to try? Check out our recommendations on the best Bak Kwa in Singapore!

3. Old Seng Choong

Shop Now

Get a taste of Singapore’s traditions and heritage with Old Seng Choong’s confectionery delights! Each delicate product captures the distinct flavours of our little red dot while adding a modern twist that makes them loved by many. If you love a good Pandan Chiffon Cake like I do, you’ll also love their iconic Pandan Coconut Cookies for the delicate balance of aromatic pandan and buttery goodness. Feeling adventurous? Interesting local flavours such as the Laksa Cookies and Cereal Prawn Cookies are also great options if you’re looking for some unique Singaporean snacks!

4. The Kettle Gourmet

Shop Now

Looking for the best snacks in Singapore to munch on as you watch the upcoming National Day Parade? Check out The Kettle Gourmet for its extensive range of flavours. Play it safe with the classic Salted Caramel Popcorn, or go for the flavourful Fish Head Curry Popcorn for a satisfying crunch alongside a tangy blend of Indian spices.

If you’re indecisive like me, I’d recommend the Crazy Asian Popcorn Bundle to experience a variety of flavours while sparing yourself the struggle of trying to pick a single flavour. These snacks also come in food-grade foil packs with resealable seals for maximum freshness. So, you don’t have to worry about your popcorn becoming lao hong and losing its crunch.

5. The Golden Duck

Shop Now

You can’t say you’re truly Singaporean if you haven’t tried salted egg snacks before. For tourists looking to purchase some souvenirs, I’d recommend The Golden Duck. Staying true to their vision of translating iconic Asian flavours into irresistible snacks, this brand creates tidbits that are made by foodies, for foodies.

Give the Salted Egg Fish Skin Crunchy Crisps Snacks a go for a truly tantalising experience. Unlike some brands that are stingy with their salted egg seasoning, this one is super generous. Once you open the bag, you’ll be able to enjoy the aroma of curry leaves that accompany the rich, salted egg flavours that envelope the crunchy fish skin. As one of the best snacks in Singapore, it also comes in a bundle of three, so there’s plenty to go around. Other snacks from this brand are also sure to delight, including the aromatic Truffle Wagyu Gourmet Spiced Potato Chips.

6. IRVINS Salted Egg

Shop Now

If you’re looking for a snack that boasts irresistible flavours and is meticulously crafted with real ingredients, this is it! IRVINS’s snacks are created with real duck egg yolks, aromatic curry leaves, and salmon skin. As the salmon skin is derived from upcycled salmon, it’s rich in marine collagen and offers up to eight grams of protein, so snacking sessions are slightly less sinful.

Pick up a bag of IRVINS Classic Mix for a tasting portion of the various flavours. Aside from manufacturing fish skin, IRVINS has also collaborated with numerous brands over the years. One of my favourite ones is the Nissin IRVINS Salted Egg Packet Noodles for a late-night supper session. If you know a friend who loves savoury snacks, they’ll love this as it’s one of the best snacks in Singapore!

7. Shermay’s Singapore Fine Food

Shop Now

Shermay’s Singapore Fine Food was founded by award-winning cookbook author Shermay Lee, who specialises in Singapore’s culinary heritage and Peranakan cuisine. She has also partnered with prominent industry players such as Fullerton Bay Hotel and Singapore Airlines, so you can expect the brand’s sauces and premium crackers to be next-level delicious. If you love all things spicy, you’ll love Shermay’s Cilicuka Very Very Hot Level 3. This is a premium Nyonya Red Chilli Sauce with a fiery kick. Get the Shermay’s Prawn Cracker Packet to go with it. But be warned – it’s super addictive!

8. Oriental Snacks

As a child, I thought these were the best snacks in Singapore! Even though I’m now older and my tastes have changed, I’m still hit with a wave of nostalgia whenever I munch on these snacks. It’s also heartening to see how Oriental Snacks has remained a staple brand all this time, as it’s cheap and good. My pick is the Super Ring Cheese Chips for the cheese powder that I’d savour long after the chips were gone. The Chicken Ring is another Singaporean childhood snack that’s loved by many, including me!

9.  Fossa Chocolate

Shop Now

Fossa Chocolate was founded on the principle of making every chocolate experience memorable by using the finest and most sustainably sourced cacao beans. So, you’re guaranteed quality with every bar of chocolate. Besides the standard flavours, the brand also offers unique local flavours such as Singapore Rojak and Nanyang Kopi. For days that you’re feeling daring, try out the Fossa Chocolate Black Truffle to enjoy the rich truffle aroma that’s infused into Ecuadorian Costa Esmeraldas dark milk chocolate. To top it off, this one also comes with crispy feuilletine (crispy, caramelised crepe flakes) for an unexpectedly crunchy twist. If you have a sweet tooth, Fossa Chocolate’s goods are also one of the best snacks in Singapore that you’re sure to love.

10. Khong Guan Biscuits

Despite its humble beginnings, this brand is undeniably one of the most well-known household names in Singapore today. Khong Guan Biscuits is the recipient of multiple awards, including the Monde Selection Award, the highest international accolade of quality production that a brand can receive. This brand is also a key part of every Singaporean’s childhood, making it a great snack to pick up when reminiscing about the past!

My favourites are the Khong Guan Iced Gem Biscuits for the dollop of sweet icing sugar atop the cream biscuit, which never fails to cheer me up! As an everyday snack, the Khong Guan Top Choice Biscuit Assorted Tin Biscuits is also another great option due to its variety of flavours, crunchy texture, and convenient packaging.

11. TRAIN Brand

Another childhood favourite that most of us will remember is Train Brand Haw Flakes. A sweet and tangy snack made from Chinese Hawthorn berries, this childhood snack is typically taken with medicine to reduce bitterness. However, it also makes for one of the best snacks if you’re craving something sweet. Thinking of getting some snacks as gifts for your parents back home? They’re sure to enjoy a bag of Train Brand Chen Pi or Hua He Ying Zi to snack on. Popular among many, these snacks are a natural remedy for ailments such as nausea and poor appetite. So, it’s a sweet treat that’s also deliciously healthy!

12. Old Chang Kee

Shop Now

This brand brings up many childhood memories when it comes to its well-known curry puffs and other hot savouries. Generously stuffed with curry potato, chicken, and a slice of egg, a comforting curry puff from Old Chang Kee is exactly what you need to quell your hunger. This brand has over 70 outlets on our little red dot, so it’s convenient to drop by for a midday snack.

For those lazy days at home, the Frozen Mini Curry Puff is a decent substitute if you really can’t bring yourself to head out. To entice the kids, the Old Chang Kee Frozen Cheezy Chicken Sausage is another pick that’s sure to delight. If you’re planning to have some friends or family over, finger-food options from Old Chang Kee are undoubtedly one of the best snacks in Singapore.

13.  Ya Kun Kaya Toast

Other than our love for durian, there’s nothing else that unites Singaporeans as much as a hearty breakfast at Ya Kun Kaya Toast. What started as a family business rapidly shot to fame, becoming a well-known local brand that’s loved by many generations. A standard breakfast here consists of kopi, kaya toast, and soft-boiled eggs that are all prepared lovingly by hand.

Once you’re done savouring your meal, grab a few jars of Ya Kun Kaya Jam to recreate a slice of kaya toast at home! Made from fragrant coconut milk, eggs, and pandan leaves, the mouth-watering aroma alone is bound to remind you of the delicacies you have here.

14. Awfully Chocolate

awfully chocolate best snacks in singapore
(Credit: Awfully Chocolate Singapore / Facebook)

Awfully Chocolate was first established in 1998 by chocolate aficionados with the singular mission of making chocolate simple again. But don’t be fooled – this brand still strictly abides by the principles of quality bakes, whether it’s the artisanal dark chocolate desserts or the chocolate gifting line. The chocolates here are decadent and free of artificial additives, making these treats worry-free.

Since you can’t possibly leave Singapore without a taste of our desserts, go for the Original Chocolate cake to savour the one that started it all. With a unique dark roast flavour and moist sponge layers, I won’t be surprised if you’re back for seconds. Alternatively, pick up a set of the 18-piece Mixed Gorgeous Truffles to sample all six carefully curated flavours. Be it a treat for yourself or a gift for someone special, this is one of the best snacks in Singapore if you want to impress a chocolate lover.

15. The Cookie Museum

Looking for a souvenir that’s thoughtful and flavourfully captures the essence of Singapore? Get a tin of cookies from The Cookie Museum to experience distinctly local flavours in a single bite! With flavours like Chilli Crab and Shrimp Laksa, you’re in for a treat with these Singaporean snacks that’ll remind you of your hawker conquests long after your visit. I was also fascinated to find that some of the Singapore Chilli Crab Cookies also come with edible roasted mini crab toppers!

Fret not if such fiery flavours are not to your liking, as the brand prides itself on having over 700 original recipes, so there’s definitely something for you. From Earl Grey Lavender to White Almond Truffle, these timeless flavours pair well with a cup of tea for your maximum teatime enjoyment.

16. Home’s Favourite

homes favourite best snacks in singapore
(Credit: Home’s Favourite Singapore / Facebook)

You can never go wrong with a bake from Home’s Favourite for pastries made with utmost passion and care. After all, the brand was established to preserve a mother’s baking legacy. I’d recommend uniquely local flavours such as the Ondeh Ondeh Cookies Tin to enjoy the blend of creamy coconut, fragrant pandan, and flavoursome Gula Melaka. The Black Gold Cashew Nut Cookies Tin is also another frontrunner on our list if you’re looking for a Singapore snack that looks as good as it tastes.

You might be as surprised as I am to learn that Home’s Favourite is also the creator of the first snowskin durian mooncake in Singapore! With the Mid-Autumn Festival around the corner, it’s never too early to start thinking about which mooncakes to get this year. If you need more recommendations, check out our guide on the best traditional mooncakes in Singapore that’ll leave you wanting more.

17. Bengawan Solo

(Credit: bengawan_solo_sg / Instagram)

As one of Singapore’s most successful bakery chains, Bengawan Solo is frequented by both locals and tourists for its delicious Peranakan-style cakes and pastries. My pick is the Pandan Chiffon Cake for the perfect combination of airy chiffon and aromatic pandan. If you’re still struggling to find souvenirs, Bengawan Solo is home to some of the best snacks in Singapore. For the elders back home, I guarantee that they’ll love the handmade and traditional bakes from this brand. The time-honoured recipes and wholesome ingredients used in these treats bring a sense of nostalgia and comfort, making them the perfect gift for those who enjoy simple, authentic flavours.

Take a trip down memory lane with the best snacks in Singapore!
