How healthy is oat milk?

Switching out regular full fat cream milk for oat milk is perfect for those who are lactose-intolerant, as it allows you to enjoy your milky drinks without having to rush to the toilet immediately. Oat milk is also good for your heart! Oats contain a large amount of beta-glucan, a type of soluble fibre which helps to keep your cholesterol levels in check. Moreover, oat milk is lower in fat, calories and sugar as compared to dairy. As such, makes it a good drink if you are trying to shed a few pounds.

Environmental impact of oat milk

Oat milk produces significantly less greenhouse gases compared to dairy and other plant-based milk. Imagine this: 200ml of cow’s milk produces 0.6kg of greenhouse gas while the same amount of oat milk produces 0.18kg — how much less greenhouse gas is being emitted from your decision to consume oat milk! Additionally, oat milk requires significantly less water to be produced compared to dairy milk. This means that more water can be saved in the process of making your creamy oat milk.
